An abbreviated campaign is entertaining but limited in scope, while the subsequent pursuits are tailored to a satisfying if glacial curve of powering up

Now that we're a month into Warmind's release, the question of whether it holds up largely depends on the kind of Destiny player you are. If the recent reveal of Forsaken has you itching to play Destiny 2 again, and you're not already roped into the Season 1 expansion pass anyway, then sure, grab Warmind as it will give you access to more events to keep you busy over the summer.
Skill Up: 6 / 10 by Ralph Panebianco
At the end of this review now, it's clear that on balance, I don't have a lot of good things to say about this DLC, or where the game is now, but I recognise that we are still in that 5 miles when the ship is coming to a complete stop. This second DLC pack was the last vestiges of the launch inertia, and with that now behind us, Bungie can take the ship anywhere it pleases. Bungie have begun that process of making improvements to the game, and some of them, like masterworks and exotic reworks, and more quests and collectables at the endgame show a lot of promise, but they do feel like small panels and minor cogs in the context of one very big, very unwieldy ship.
Destiny 2: Warmind Description
Destiny 2: Gods of Mars is another expansion for PC, PS4 and XONE’s version of Destiny 2, a multiplayer-focused game of Bungie studio (known e.g. for its Halo series). It is a non-standalone expansion and requires not only the base game, but also the previous expansion, Curse of Osiris.
Plot
The story of Destiny 2: Gods of Mars revolves around another awakening of AI Charlemagne – a Warmind located on Mars, which was originally planned to appear in the first game. It leads to entrapment of Rasputin – its counterpart on Earth – in ancient vault. Players must cooperate with Ana Bray to defeat Remnants controlled by Charlemagne and free the imprisoned artificial intelligence.
Game mechanics
Destiny 2: Gods of Mars does not add any new mechanics or other fresh elements to gameplay. Instead, it focuses on giving Destiny 2’s players new yet familiar content. There are more story quests, adventures, maps for PvP mode and cooperative activities, e.g. assaults and public events (including heroics ones). The biggest novelty comes from the new type of enemies for the series – Remnants. Taking part in the game will reward players with equipment, including more exotic weapons and armors.
Technical aspects
As far as technical matters go, Destiny 2: Gods of Mars isn’t any different from the base version of the game.
