The player assumes the role of a not-too-successful pickup artist Larry Laffer who is trying to gain the affection of the girl of his dreams. During the game, the players are exploring locations, participating in conversations and solving riddles. The gameplay is partially non-linear and features a virtual dating app with unique logic challenges.

The game is set in the Dragon Ball universe first featured in a manga created by Akira Toriyama and a following anime series. Decimated creatures discovered that they can control human bodies and they intend to take advantage of this ability. The gameplay in Ambition of the Slimes focuses on turn-based battles that take place on a tactical map. The fights are strongly unusual due to the abilities of the slimes.
