While The Wreck's mature script will earn some ardent fans, I wish it left more of a dent with me.

The Wreck is definitely not a game for everyone. Admittedly, it’s pretty tough to get through, for a variety of reasons. It has a somewhat slow start, which might turn some people off. It also covers several mature topics and themes, such as grief, death, self-harm, and toxic relationships. However, for those who love a compelling narrative, The Wreck has that in spades.
The Wreck Description
The Wreck is a narrative adventure game dealing with difficult life themes. It was developed by The Pixel Hunt, an independent studio whose portfolio includes the unique Bury Me, My Love.
Plot
The protagonist of The Wreck is Junon, a 36-year-old screenwriter whose professional career and personal life hang in the balance. When her mother is hospitalized in a critical condition, the protagonist has to survive the most important day of her life, trying to deal with her past and put all her affairs in order.
Game mechanics
The gameplay in The Wreck consists mainly of following the storyline. As we watch flashbacks and gradually learn more about Junon's past and the secrets she's been hiding, we get to know and better understand the problems she's facing. As we gain information, we unlock new dialogue that we can use in numerous conversations to repair Junon's damaged relationships with others. Our actions are important because they determine whether the woman will find peace and hope for a better tomorrow.
Technical aspects
Despite the serious subject matter of The Wreck, the graphic design of this production is kept in a colorful, cartoonish style.
