Last update: 29 September 2021
On this page of the FUT 22 mode guide to FIFA 22, you will learn what attributes to pay attention to when selecting players for each position.
In FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, you can select from a huge number of players each of them assigned to their respective positions. In order to perform well in their role, players should have certain qualities and attributes, and the player's overall rating doesn't always adequately reflect their skills.
- Striker
- Winger / side midfielder
- Central midfielder
- Central attacking midfielder
- Central defensive midfielder
- Cornerback (CB)
- Side defender
- Goalkeeper
Striker
Every FUT 22 team regardless of formation will have at least one striker (ST/CF), whose role is to score goals. When choosing a striker, pay attention to those players who excel in the following attributes:
- Pace above 80;
- Finishing above 80;
- Shot Power above 80;
- Dribbling above 80 (if the player's Balance score is also at this level - perfect!);
- Weak Foot stars - preferably 4 or 5, so that you do not have to move the ball to the stronger leg before shooting;
- Skill Moves stars - if you like to dribble, look for players with 4 or even 5 stars;
- More specialty in attack than in defense (preferably high/low).
In FUT 22 you will find many slower strikers, such as Harry Kane, Luis Suarez and Karim Benzema, who are excellent attackers and will still be playable, but require different action construction.
Winger / side midfielder
Depending on the formation, you may need wingers (RW/LW) or side midfielders (RM/LM). When looking for suitable wingers, you should pay attention to the following statistics:
- Pace above 80/85;
- Dribbling and balance above 80;
- Finishing above 80;
- Shot Power above 80;
- Weak Foot stars - preferably 4 or 5, so that you do not have to move the ball to the stronger leg before shooting;
- Skill Moves stars - if you like to dribble, look for players with 4 or even 5 stars;
- More specialty in offense than in defense.
Central midfielder
Central midfielders (CM) are key players in many formations, so you should opt for versatile players with balanced attributes:
- Pay attention to Balance, Passing, and Ball Control, so that you can start attacking after getting control of the ball;
- The skill moves stars can come in handy during a duel with another player;
- If you are going to use midfielders to shoot goals, pay attention to the Shot and Finishing stats.
Central attacking midfielder
The central attacking midfielders (CAM) are very often involved in plays within the opponent's penalty area and they also participate in finishing plays and shots on goal. When looking for offensive midfielders for a team in FUT 22, the following stats are worth paying attention to:
- Pace above 80;
- Dribbling and balance above 80;
- Finishing above 80;
- Shot Power above 80;
- Weak Foot stars - at least 4, so that you do not have to move the ball to the stronger leg before shooting;
- Skill Moves stars - if you like to dribble, look for players with 4 or even 5 stars;
- Passing above 80;
- More specialty in attack than in defense: preferably high/medium.
Central defensive midfielder
When it comes down to it, central defensive midfielders (CDM) are your team's first line of defense. In some formations, there will be room for only one CDM, while others may have 2 defensive midfielders. Players in this position should have the following attributes:
- Pace above 70;
- High Strength, Aggression, Interceptions and Reactions;
- Height above 180cm, so that they can effectively fight in the air;
- More specialty in defense than in attack - preferably high/low.
Cornerback (CB)
Cornerbacks (CB) are extremely important players on any team in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. When selecting cornerbacks, pay particular attention to:
- Pace above 70;
- Height above 185cm, so that they can effectively fight in the air;
- High Strength, Aggression, Jumping, Interceptions and Reactions - at least on level 80;
- The less specialty the player has in attack the better, as it can have a negative effect on your defense line.
Side defender
The side defenders (RB/LB) can play different roles on the pitch: some will participate in offensive actions, while others will stay back and defend the goal. Players in this position should excel in the following attributes:
- Pace over 85 points to compete with fast wingers;
- Defending skills at least at level 75;
- Good Dribbling - if the player is to take an active part in offensive actions;
- Good Physical attributes, especially Strength and Stamina at level 80;
- Also, pay attention to the "better" foot – it should be the same as the side of the pitch on which that player plays.
Goalkeeper
No team in FUT 22 can function well without a good goalkeeper. In FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, you should pay attention to the following player attributes:
- Height;
- Reflex;
- Positioning on the goal;
- Football handling.
A low handling attribute may result in the goalkeeper frequently dropping the ball, which can lead to losing a goal.
