A superb second next-gen season on the digital turf – but subtle Ultimate Team tweaks amplify the 'pay to win' criticisms that stalk this series annually.
Forbes: 7.5 / 10 by Brian Mazique
EA Sports has delivered a strong next-gen experience with FIFA 22. The primary focus was on gameplay and the attention led to a tangible improvement overall. However, the feature set is still in need of more layers.
GameSpot: 8 / 10 by Richard Wakeling
FIFA 22 excels on the pitch with a patient and more methodical style, but additions elsewhere are only incremental and microtransactions still leave a bad taste.

FIFA 22 Description
FIFA 22 is the next installment of the annual football game series by EA Sports studio. Following the tradition of the series, the game allows us to play football matches featuring officially licensed teams and players.
Mechanics
The gameplay mechanics do not differ too much from previous parts of the series. The core of the game are matches, during which we control a chosen team. The game focuses on realism and faithful representation of the rules. The basis of the gameplay has not changed almost at all, but the game improves the artificial intelligence of our opponents in comparison to the previous installment and adds a few new small elements. Team squads have been updated again, and the game lets us take on the role of real footballers.
Game modes
A tradition of the FIFA series is the significant number of game modes, both single-player and multiplayer. Players can play single matches with any team, take part in tournaments and test themselves in online seasons. In career mode, on the other hand, you can take on the role of manager of a selected club or manage a single player, develop his skills and lead him to greatness. If you choose to play the role of a coach, the game allows you to not only play matches but also send players to training, organise transfers and choose tactics and the right formation for the team before a match.
One of the highlights of FIFA 22 is the game's Ultimate Team (FUT) mode, where you build your own team. To acquire new players, players must open card packs containing random players of varying skill levels. Cards can also be purchased using the in-game currency known as coins.
Technical aspects
FIFA 22 runs on the Frostbite engine characterised by detail and realism. The game features professional commentary during gameplay.
