Creating a team and chemistry in FUT FIFA 19 Guide and FUT Tips

Last update: 08 October 2018

Creating a good team is a key to success in FUT (FIFA 19 Ultimate Team). Assigning 11 players to the right positions seems like an easy thing to do. However, it is the opposite. You have to pay attention to numerous factors, i.e. players' nationality and chemistry in the team. This chapter contains useful information and tips that should help you with creating your first team.

Which players should I look for?

You need to find players who will play on specific positions. Your team can consist of, i.e. strikers, wingers/wide midfield, midfielders and defenders. A player assigned to a given position requires certain traits and skills, the overall score doesn't always reflect a player's abilities. Read this chapter to learn which players you need for your first golden team.

Goalkeeper

A good goalkeeper is the basis of every team - look for tall players, with certain ways of placing themselves in the goal, with good reflex and those who are able to dive under strikers feet - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

A good goalkeeper is the basis of every team - look for tall players, with certain ways of placing themselves in the goal, with good reflex and those who are able to "dive" under striker's feet.

Striker

The most important attributes for every striker are finishing, shot power, pace and strength - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

The most important attributes for every striker are finishing, shot power, pace and strength. The game features a lot of slow players who act as a striker - you can use them in your team without any problems but remember that you shouldn't pass the ball to them when you are making a quick counterattack. Also, a good striker is better at attacking rather than defending. If you rely on crosses into the penalty area then you should also pay attention to a striker's height and jumping attribute.

Winger/wide midfielder

The most crucial attribute for a good winger is to have pace at more than 80 points - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

The most crucial attribute for a good winger is to have pace at more than 80 points. Good dribbling and at least four stars in tricks are also important - you will be able to quickly reach the pitch's center. Also, pay attention to "stronger" and "weaker" leg. A winger should also have high finishing and shot power attributes.

Attacking midfielder

An attacking midfielder needs high dribbling, ball control, passing and long shots attributes - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

An attacking midfielder needs high dribbling, ball control, passing and long shots attributes. Placing a slower attacker on the position of an attacking midfielder is a common practice - these players are great on that position.

Midfielder

A midfielder plays a key role in numerous formations - try to get players with at least 60 points in defending attribute - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

A midfielder plays a key role in numerous formations - try to get players with at least 60 points in defending attribute. Reactions, passing and ball control are all important stats. You should also check a player's "weaker" leg - thanks to that you won't have to wonder which leg is currently controlling the ball. A player's tricks level can also be helpful when you have to deal with a player from the opposing team. Other stats worth mentioning are long shots and freekicks.

Defensive midfielder

A defensive midfielder is your first line of defense - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

A defensive midfielder is your first line of defense. A player on this position must have high strength, aggression and interceptions. Being able to play more defensively is also important, especially when you have to face players who lack technical training. Your player should have higher scores in defending than attacking. Additionally, a defensive midfielder should be tall so he can intercept long passes.

Wing-back defender

In FUT, the most important attribute for a wing-back defender is sprint speed - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

In FUT, the most important attribute for a wing-back defender is sprint speed. Pace should be at 80 or higher while defending skills should be around 75 points. Another important value is height or jumping attribute (for shorter players). High dribbling attribute is important when you want to pass opposing players. Pay attention to the "stronger" leg value - it should be the same as the position on which he plays. This information is especially important when a player has less than three stars in the "weaker" leg.

Center-back defender

A good center-back defender is important in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

A good center-back defender is important in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team. A good defender should be above 185 cm tall. Slide tackle, interceptions, strength and aggression should be at 80 points or higher. Pace should be around 60 points. The lower the scores related to attacking, the better. Higher values in attacking can have negative impact on your team's defense.

Chemistry

Chemistry is a key mechanic in FUT - the success of your team depends on it. FIFA 19 Ultimate Team allows you to build a team that consists of players from different clubs and nationalities. Because of that not all players understand each other well enough which means that you can have worse results on a football pitch. Therefore, you should pay attention to the chemistry value. Your players need high chemistry (10 is the maximum value) to do their best. Chemistry depends on where a given player is positioned. This chapter will help you create a team with the best chemistry.

A player on the right position

The first step to have your players reach full chemistry is to place them on the right positions. You can check their preferred position on their card (the position is displayed right below the overall score). There are 17 positions in FIFA 19: goalkeeper, left/right defender, left/right wing-back, center-back defender, defensive midfielder, midfielder, attacking midfielder, left/right winger, center forward striker, left/right striker, striker. Of course, different formations have different positions. For example, one can have only strikers, while another formation can have a center forward striker and wingers. That is why choosing the right formation for your players is important.

A player can reach 10 in chemistry only when he matches other players and he plays on his main position - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

A player can reach 10 in chemistry only when he matches other players and he plays on his main position. Place him on a position near his main one and this player will receive 9 chemistry points.

Chemistry between players

Player positions are connected with each other - this happens in every squad, regardless of formation - Creating a team and chemistry in FUT - FUT Guide - FIFA 19 Game Guide

Player positions are connected with each other - this happens in every squad, regardless of formation. Connections between players are marked with red, orange or green lines. A full chemistry is possible only when a player is surrounded with matching players. A player receives chemistry points from other team members when:

  1. They play in the same league but in different clubs and they are of different nationality - 1 point.
  2. They play in a different league but they are of the same nationality - 1 point.
  3. They play in the same league, in different clubs but they are of the same nationality - 2 points.
  4. They play in the same club but they are of different nationality - 2 points.
  5. They play in the same club and they are of the same nationality - 3 points.

Red lines indicate that there is no understanding between players. An orange line means that players connected by it have 1 chemistry point. Players connected with a green line have 2 or 3 chemistry points.

A Manager's role in team's chemistry

In FUT, managers can add chemistry and extend players' contracts. Every manager is of a different nationality and is assigned to a specific league. You can change a manager's league by using the card that allows you to switch leagues. A manager adds 1 chemistry point to every player from the same league or of the same nationality. Check the picture depicting a team in the previous chapter - the team has reached full chemistry thanks to the manager from Spain (6 players in that team come from this country).

Why is chemistry so important?

Chemistry at level 50 means that all the players will have the same stats as on their cards. Every amount of points below 50 reduces their abilities by a little bit. 0 chemistry reduces all stats by 25 points. Every amount of points above 50 increases certain abilities by 0, 10 or even 15 points (this depends on a player). The maximum value is 99 points.
