Game Guide - General hints ET: QW Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
- Each time the frontline moves, one of the spies/infiltrators must deploy a new radar, so the team will have enemy troops shown on the minimap. Analogically, field ops/oppressor have to call an anti-artillery system;
- Distinguishing teammates from spies/infiltrators in disguise is nearly a kind of art. You can determine whether the suspected player is a friendly or not by shooting at him. Another (better) method is to observe his behaviour - if a player doesn't run towards the battlefield or if he carries nothing else but an assault rifle/lacerator or knife/spikes, we can say we've got an enemy in sight;
- Vehicles can be destroyed even with a regular rifle. If the enemy is attacking you with a heavily damaged mean of transport, don't waste grenades on it. Better use your gun to blow up the vehicle;
- Majority of vehicles have an additional boost. Use it as many times as you can, especially when you have to get to a certain place faster or when to raise your chance for survival during falling back;
- Vehicles are also equipped with flares, which can distract enemy rockets that are locked-on your tank, jeep, jetpack or so on. Flares are particularly efficient when the vehicle is being attacked by infantry with rocket launchers or obliterators. Unfortunately, anti-vehicle turrets have too high rate of fire, so the flares cannot reload before the launch of next projectile;
- If you're playing as a field ops/oppressor, use your artillery. However, if something doesn't allow you to mark a target (e. g. a wall), throw an air-strike marker/violator;
- Most of the maps have buildings with a bit complicated layouts. To get acquainted with the way in which rooms and corridors are connected, play with bots before you go fighting against players made of bones and flesh;
- Completing objectives like blowing up objects or constructing bridges/mining lasers takes some time. Before the executor of an objective will start his job, he must be sure that someone covers him or that there are no enemies nearby. Players in ETQW respawn simultaneously, so their attacks aren't constant, but have a wavy character. That's why in most cases either you meet a whole enemy team, or none of them;
- When a Strogg technician creates a spawn host from a body of a fallen GDF warrior, we can respawn at its location only if we press the "use" button on it. The vanes (4 of them) will go down (check pictures below), so other players will know that the spawn host is claimed. You'll be able to use your spawn host when you die;
- And now the most important - Enemy Territory Quake Wars is based on teamplay! Choosing a particular class means that you accept to fulfil duties connected with your function!
