It’s an optional quest, linked to one of the potential companions – the drone C.R.O.N.Y. U4. You can unlock this quest very quickly, but you visit some dangerous places during this one.

How to unlock the quest: Finding the damaged C.R.O.N.Y. U3 in the observatory ruins at the beginning of the game (main quest: Survive) or finding a damaged C.R.O.N.Y. U4 drone in The Pit, near Goliet.

The quest can be unlocked early on, during the exploration of the observatory ruins at the beginning of the game (quest: Survive). Examine the C.R.O.N.Y. U3 drone. You can also bypass this step, and go look for the C.R.O.N.Y. U4 drone (the actual companion).

The C.R.O.N.Y. U4 can be found in The Pit, near the Goliet village (it’s a pit with items forbidden among the berserkers). The main entrance is guarded by Argor. You can intimidate him, but only if you have 2 Combat points. A simpler solution is to use the jetpack and get over the fence (you can also jump from a higher spot and use the jetpack land without breaking your knees).

The location of the drone

After reaching the junkyard, find C.R.O.N.Y. U4 and talk to him to estimate the damage. Next, you have to reach a repair station located in the Converter in North Abessa on the northern edge of the map. Talk to the drone again to find the components that need to be replaced (200XP). You will be sent to find the DI6 chipset.

Finding a chipset is very troublesome because it is located inside of the Converter in North Abessa. This location is occupied by strong Albs who are supported by Fighting Colossus machines. If you don't want to fight them, you can use your jet pack and avoid the main entrance to the fort as well as Albs guarding the walls (an example is presented in the picture 1). You must carefully approach the tower's entrance and lure out soldiers guarding it to a more secluded place.

When you clear the entrance, you can enter the converter and start securing the ground floor. This allows you to get Control Module (you can also quickly pick it up and run away) (400XP). Take the chipset to C.R.O.N.Y. U4 and give an order to install it (900XP). The drone becomes your companion and can accompany you during your journey.

Warning – After fixing C.R.O.N.Y U4, the drone will collect Natural Elex at regular intervals for you. If you don't travel with the drone, you can find him in Small Camp (your team's camp) and collect this valuable resource there.

This quest has a short epilogue. During your next conversation with C.R.O.N.Y. U4, you can learn that it doesn't have any functioning weapons. You must go back to the place where you started the game, the ruins of an observatory east from Goliet. Examine C.R.O.N.Y. U3 remains again and you will get Weapon System. Take this item to C.R.O.N.Y. U4 and install it (200XP).
