Rule the Waves 2. Top 10 overlooked strategy games in 2019
Table of Contents
- Developer: Naval Warfare Simulations
- Release date: June 6, 2019
- In a nutshell: fleet command simulator which takes place during the first half of the 20th century
Another interesting title among the complex military strategies is Rule the Waves 2. It's a continuation of a rather niche strategy game of the same title, which was released in 2016. The gameplay focuses on commanding the Navy during the period of 1900-1955.
In the game, you are in charge of greatest naval fleets of that era, and your task is not only to carry out military operations, but also to design your own ships and manage the budget. The main novelty, in comparison with the previous part, is the extension of the gameplay timeframe. It allows us to witness how the sea battles have changed during the first half of the 20th century. As a result, we take part in two World Wars, experience the era of dreadnoughts and then introduce aviation to the seas and oceans.
When it comes to visuals, the game has a rather simple artistic style. However, the graphics doesn't prevent you from getting satisfaction by playing an important role of admiral. The developers have managed to faithfully represent some aspects of real sea battle, thanks to which Rule the Waves 2 is an interesting gem for every fan of sea war history.
FANTASY GENERAL 2
The enthusiasts of complex strategies should also be interested in Fantasy General 2. It is a sophisticated turn-based strategy, which is a continuation of the classic title from the 1990s. The game has many references to the iconic Panzer General. Fantasy General 2 allows players to take part in large scale battles that involve many different types of units. The fantasy-like artistic style and neat visuals should satisfy anyone who likes this type of atmosphere and is looking for decent strategic challenges.
