For the King is an interesting hybrid that blends the elements of JRPGs, roguelikes, and strategy games, developed by the independent studio IronOak Games. The game takes place in a fantasy land engulfed by chaos. Heroes, led by the player, decide to defeat the evil forces. Both the world and the adventures within it are generated procedurally. Each time we start, we will feel as if we were playing a different, new game.

[1:07] For the King trailer #1
COGconnected: 70 / 100 by Ricky Knight
For The King, despite its inviting art style, is a game that you need to play and lose repeatedly before you have a real chance of winning.
Pure Nintendo: 7 / 10
All in all, For the King is a seamless port to the Switch and fun experience! You are going to die and you will probably grumble about it. But then you will spend your well-earned lore points on a new event, encounter, item or class and hit that new game button one more time to start a new adventure all over again. I encourage anyone who enjoys RPG's or rogue-likes to get a copy and see just how far you can get! Until next time, good gaming.
GameSkinny: 7 / 10
For the King has compelling visual style, cool combat mechanics, and a co-op mode, but suffers from an extreme level of difficulty and RNG nonsense.

For the King Description
For the King is an interesting genre hybrid that blends elements of JRPGs, roguelikes, and strategy games developed by the independent studio IronOak Games.
The Plot
The game takes place in the kingdom of Fahrul located in a typical fantasy world. After the king’s death, Fahrul is consumed by chaos. The queen has nothing else to do but ask her subjects for help. We will lead a party of heroes who will try to face the dangers that threaten the kingdom.
Mechanics
We observe the action in For the King from an isometric point of view. Gameplay is based on exploration. Our team moves around the map made of hexagonal tiles. We can travel either on foot or by boat. Given the situation in which the Kingdom is right now, the map is filled with enemies present not only on the surface, but also in the dungeons. Sooner or later we are forced to fight. Combat is turn-based, and our victory depends on how, and when, we use our heroes’ abilities (we can have archers, mages, and warriors in our party, among others) and on how good is their equipment. We can heal our wounds by using the herbs we collected during our adventures and by camping.
Interestingly, the map, events, and adventures are generated prodecurally, increasing the game’s replayability.
Game Modes
For the King has a wide range of game modes. We can play alone or with other players. Coop can be played online or in a hot seat mode.
Techical Aspects
For the King has good-looking 3D visuals that have colourful, cartoonish style.
