Islanders Description
Islanders is an economic strategy game representing the city builder subgenre, similarly to games such as Sim City and Cities: Skylines. The production offers a quite simple and minimalistic gameplay model along with colorful visuals. The game was created by the independent GrizzlyGames (creators known for Superflight published in 2017).
Mechanics
Islanders is about building a city on an island. Players' task is to design and gradually expand the housing estates, so that over time they turn from a small village into a real metropolis. One starts with just a few buildings to choose from - by placing each of them one gets points used to unlock new properties and access to new types of buildings.
When the city grows enough, one will be able to move to another island. It is worth noting that the places where players build their estates are randomly generated and characterized by a large degree of diversity and a different style. The game ends when one runs out of buildings.
In addition, the total number of points collected is recorded, so when you play, you can try to beat your own records.
Game modes
We can only play Islanders alone. The creators did not prepare any multiplayer modes.
Technical aspects
Islanders delivers interestingly designed three-dimensional visuals. Similarly to gameplay mechanics, the visual layer of this game is distinguished by some kind of minimalism, but the original art style and pleasant colors make the title quite attractive, although not one of the most technologically advanced games.
