Radio Commander is a real-time strategy, which takes place in the realities of the Vietnamese conflict, where we play the role of the commander responsible for the fate of the soldiers under charge.
Radio Commander is a radio operator simulator during the Vietnamese conflict. PlayWay S.A. is responsible for the game - the dev known from such simulators as Car Mechanic or House Flipper and the publisher was Games Operators, responsible for 911 Operator.
Plot
The Vietnamese conflict of 1965-1967 continues. We play as an American commander whose task is to coordinate military operations by listening to reports and taking important tactical decisions. As befits a commander, we give all orders from the base rather than from the middle of the battlefield.
Decisions made in the game have an impact on the further course of the plot and the fate of the soldiers subordinate to us. Making a decision resulting in the death of one of the latter is particularly difficult because during the game each of the soldiers speaks to us with their own voice and has unique character traits. Do not feel as if it was just a unit moving along the map, but a living being for whose life we are responsible.
Mechanics
Radio Commander is a real-time strategy taking place on a map inside a tent in a military base. We listen to radio messages transmitted by individual units on an ongoing basis, and then, according to the information listened to, we place appropriate markers on the map or make additional notes.
During the game, we will have to decide about infantry units, air cavalry, field artillery or air support (15 types in total). Each of them has unique statistics, which we have to pay attention to because they can play a key role in the battle. Supply status, vital forces, fuel quantity, and morale are just some of them.
It is our signal that individuals will do what we prescribe, so we must be careful because it is our shoulders that are responsible for making decisions. If the situation on the battlefield is difficult, nothing stands in the way of throwing down powerful bombs. Even if they tip the scales of winning on our side, they can contribute to the deaths of many soldiers whom we like.
Technical aspects
Radio Commander consists of nine story campaign missions, where each of them can be completed in several ways depending on our actions.
The game has more than 200 dialogue blocks and 600 story lines, all fully sounded.
