The gameplay starts at the beginning of the golden age of railroad in the United States. The main challenge of the player is to build a huge railroad corporation that will connect American cities with a logistics network throughout the entire 19th century. It seems that the main character could be called Sam Porter Bridges – especially since you have to develop an effective transport infrastructure, which will expand to more cities. Therefore, the gameplay mainly consists in analyzing the demand for goods on local markets, building rail tracks, acquiring trains and sending them on various missions.

Of course, you also have the opportunity to develop new technologies and implement more and more powerful locomotives. Although you spend most of your time on expansion, you are not likely to get bored, as the game offers a rather advanced economic model and an extensive campaign divided into several missions. If you have enough funds, you can take part in additional activities – stimulate local industry, construct your own buildings or lobby local politicians.

We have to admit that Railroad Corporation is a rather controversial title. Also, it received mixed reviews. However, most Steam platform users have rated the game positively and some critics, despite their concerns, agree that it's one of the best games available in this particular genre.
