Torment: Tides of Numenera. 15 good games players rarely see through

Table of Contents

Release date: February 28, 2017

IN A NUTSHELL
  1. Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One
  2. Developer: inXile entertainment
  3. Genre: RPG

Oh yes, the fans of The Nameless One have waited a log time for the unofficial return to the universe and gameplay what would provide an ersatz of the lamented and unfortunately canceled Planescape universe – the world of many doors leading to various realities.

Numenera was intended by its devs to take the warm place in the hearts of fans of both tabletop RPGs and their digital counterparts. So far, the system created by the experienced Monte Cook provided plenty of joy to its audiences, but it has to be made clear that a large group of fans has simply bounced back from Torment. Only a little over 14% of buyers completed the game – while this is not the worst result, perhaps even decent one even, compared to many other complicated RPGs, but if we take into account the fact that the customers of inXile Entertainment are not some random people, there is no place left for looking at the matter through rose-colored glasses.

Unless you suffer from compulsive buying disorder and need to get every RPG from established developers only to end up not having the time to start enjoying them properly. More than 60% of buyers did not even complete Torment's prologue, satisfied only with the description of the main character falling from the sky and not really caring too much about what happened next. Unfortunately, I have found myself in this particular group and am extremely ashamed of it.

Did you know that the short but hugely likeable game called Bastion was completed by only 13.6% of its buyers? The title has appeared many times at all kinds of sales, where it was sold for peanuts, but that's not as much an explanation, as a proof that many of us will buy anything as long as it's cheap.
