Hideo Kojima was a geniusfightme. I write about the Japanese master in the past tense, because his recent work has not been appreciated by many players. His post-apocalyptic UPC courier simulator was a unique title, not to say bizarre. Heck! It was original! The game turned out to be so different from everything we know and like that we just couldn't ignore it. And it polarized us greatly.
The statistics don't lie, however, and we can see that it was a lot more appealing to consoles gamers (although even among them as much as half didn't make it to the end). Perhaps this is due to the fact that it first appeared on PlayStation 4, when it was still surrounded by an aura of mystery and people were still wondering what the next chapter would bring? The several month-long delay of the PC launch killed off the hype, all the more so because what we eventually got offered little variety across the several dozen hours required to complete it. Or maybe PC gamers, less attuned to the quirks of great Hideo's works, simply did not have enough patience to make it through the entire story? In any case, it is clear that they started the game with significant amounts of enthusiasm. What happened next, we can only guess.
Did you know that the final duel with The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on PlayStation Vita release was completed by approximately 32% of gamers? That's not much, given the cult following of this artistic scene, showing Snake's duel with his mentor in a sea of white flowers, among Hideo Kojima's fans.
