Call Of Duty Cold War: Brick in the Wall - walkthrough Call of Duty Cold War guide, walkthrough
Last update: 15 March 2021
This chapter of the Call of Duty Cold War guide provides a description of the Brick in the Wall mission. Brick in the Wall is the third campaign mission mixing stealth sequences with typical shooting towards the end.
The whole mission consists of several stages (mostly based on stealth intelligence activities). You will conduct observations, meet with another agent and you will also sneak into Kraus' apartment. Below you will find a description of the mission.
- Identify Franz Kraus
- Contact the CIA agent
- Optional objective - locate the captured informant
- Meet Lazar and infiltrate Kraus' apartment
- Deal with Volkov
Identify Franz Kraus
The mission begins on a subway train. Follow Adler's instructions once you leave the carriage. Deal with your enemies quietly (through elimination at close range or by using a gun with a silencer).
At some point, you and Adler will come to the surface and a guard will stop you. Adler has a gun tucked behind a belt on his back (see photo below). While Adler is talking to the guard, look at Adler's gun and pull it out, deal with the enemy.
After that, follow Adler. Once on the roof, put his tips to use. At the very top, pull out the binoculars (default: 3), track Kraus and observe him. After that, follow Adler and go downstairs.
Contact the CIA agent
Once you go downstairs with Adler, you're gonna have to go to the bar to eavesdrop on Kraus ' conversation and then meet with the CIA agent. You don't have to hide on your way to the bar, just don't run into the guards. When you enter the bar, you will find your contact deeper into the room on the left side - you will also recognize the person by the blue umbrella swinging on the chair. Join the woman and put your listening device down. At this point, you can ask her anything you want. The agent will also tell you about another captured agent. You'll be given the possibility to save the agent - but it's totally up to you.
At some point you will have to evacuate quickly - go to the bathroom and use the small window to get out of the building. From this point on, you may complete the side task in two different ways or you may ignore it completely and proceed with the main mission objective. But before you do that, you have to get past the guards. Crouch down and find a door like the one in the photo below (it should be close to the building you evacuated from).
Go inside, go upstairs and eliminate the guard quietly. Go ahead and then go through the door. Now you can choose whether to go to the informant or straight to the meeting with Lazar. You can mark enemies using your camera (just watch them in close-up). Go downstairs.
Optional objective - locate the captured informant
If you want to complete an optional objective along the way (and it pays off for one good reason - you can make a choice and find evidence for a side mission).
To learn more about evidence in this mission, go to the Evidence section.
To learn more about choices in this mission, go to the Important choices section.
To avoid the guards on the way, go left through the buildings - you will stumble upon some guards along the way, deal with them and, if possible, hide the bodies.
On the way to the objective, if you really stick to the buildings, you will rather encounter single guards, not groups of them. The informant is quite close, in the basement. He's guarded by 3 men, all with their backs turned on you (or just taking a nap). All have been marked in the photo below.
Shoot the guards. You can interrogate the informant first and only then decide what to do with him. Now head to the main mission objective, exit the basement and head immediately to the left to a ladder leading to a scaffolding.
Meet Lazar and infiltrate Kraus' apartment
Make your way through the scaffolding and then jump off. On the way, you will meet two more guards, 1 of which you can evade completely. Remember to hide the body whenever possible. Go to Lazar and meet him, then follow him. At the store, you and Lazar will meet Park - take out your binoculars and track Kraus through the window- it's right above the main entrance. Zoom in and eavesdrop on his conversation. After that, leave the store through the front door and go to the Kraus' building. Avoid the guards (you don't have to sneak around)!
Go to the first floor and enter the apartment 27 on the left side. At this point, you have a pistol with tranquilizing darts - you will need them here. Sneak into Kraus' apartment - wait for Kraus' wife to answer the phone - you can send her to sleep and put her on the sofa or go straight upstairs. Go up slowly - Kraus is close, try to observe him for a little while and wait until he leaves. Go to the first room opposite the stairs - the children's room. Wait until Kraus is gone completely and go to the next room - this is where you'll find evidence for a side mission.
Go to the end of the hall and turn right into Kraus ' office - it's the only room without a door. Now turn on your black light and scan traces on the left side of the closet. Then do a quick scan of the spots under the painting on the right side of the room. Use the action button quickly on both spots. An entrance should open.
Go inside and open the briefcase - it doesn't matter now which dialog option you choose. Now exit through a door that looks like a closet.
Deal with Volkov
After the cutscene, take your weapon and deal with your enemies one by one. Hide behind covers along the way. Watch out for the red barrels on the way. If you don't like the gun, on the right side you'll find a room with an AK-47 with optics.
Keep going deeper into the warehouse, eliminating the incoming enemies. You're about to corner Volkov, and now you have the choice of shooting him on the spot or capturing him. No matter what you do, you will successfully complete the mission.
