Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War
After a great reboot of the Modern Warfare series, the Black Ops series has also been revived. The adventures of Mason, Woods and Hudson are back in style, as Cold War brings one of the best campaigns in the history of CoD!
The main pros of the game
- Engaging Campaign: Many users praised the campaign for its interesting story, varied missions, and engaging gameplay mechanics, such as decision-making that impacts the narrative.
- Zombies Mode: The Zombies mode received significant appreciation for its fun gameplay and innovative elements, often described as the best in the franchise.
- Graphics and Sound Design: Players noted the game's impressive graphics and sound design, enhancing the overall experience.
- Multiplayer Variety: The game offers multiple game modes and a still-active multiplayer community, making it enjoyable for players looking for competitive play.
- Nostalgic Elements: Some users enjoyed the 80s vibe, character references, and nostalgic elements drawn from earlier titles in the Black Ops series.
The main cons of the game
- Technical Issues: A significant number of users reported frequent crashes, connection problems, and performance issues, particularly in the Zombies mode.
- Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM): Many players expressed frustration with the strict SBMM, which they felt limited fun and made matches overly competitive.
- Banning Issues: Several users experienced unjust bans from the game, often without clear reasons or evidence, leading to dissatisfaction with Activision's customer service.
- Short Campaign: While the campaign was praised, some users felt it was too short, lasting only a few hours.
- Cheating and Hacking: Reports of encountering cheaters in multiplayer matches were common, detracting from the overall experience.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Offline Mode: Users lamented the lack of an offline mode, particularly for the campaign, as it requires a constant internet connection.
- Better Anti-Cheat Measures: Many players called for improved anti-cheat systems to prevent false bans and enhance the multiplayer experience.
- More Diverse Campaign Missions: Some players wished for longer and more varied campaign missions, feeling that the current structure was lacking.
- Optimized Performance for All Hardware: There were complaints about the game's optimization, especially for AMD users, leading to performance issues not experienced by others.
- Gameplay Mechanics: Some users desired more fluid mechanics and a return to the tactical gameplay style of earlier titles.
Summary
- Overall, while Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War has its strengths, particularly in its campaign and Zombies mode, it faces criticism due to technical issues, matchmaking frustrations, and concerns over account bans. Many players recommend waiting for sales before purchasing, especially if looking primarily for the campaign experience.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War Description
Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is the seventeenth major installment of the popular first-person shooter series developed by Activision Blizzard since 2003. The games was developed by Treyarch (studio owned by publisher) which has been in charge of the Black Ops sub-series since its inception.
Plot
The plot of Call of Duty Cold War is a separate story, which does not require knowing the previous installments of the series to understand the plot. However, the game features characters familiar to fans of the series, such as Mason, Woods, and Hudson, and joined by a previously unknown CIA agent, Russel Adler.
As the title suggests, the game is set during the Cold War and we have to thwart the plans of an enigmatic KGB agent, known by the code name Perseus. Interestingly, the game has several endings - which one we see depends on the decisions we make during the final stages.
Gameplay
In Black Ops Cold War we observe the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). Interestingly, for the first time in the series we create our own character - the hero we will play as. We don't have the possibility to decide on the appearance, but we can choose the gender, the course of previous service and perks making the game easier. The single-player mode consists of missions that take us to various corners of the world, such as a giant Soviet training facility, as well as cities such as Moscow and Berlin. The tasks we face are varied - although there are some that require us to take part in bloody and spectacular shootouts, we often have to work quietly, sneaking behind enemy lines. What's interesting, from time to time the developers also let us decide how to solve the problems that stand in our way. In addition, at certain moments we can make choices that affect the subsequent course of the plot and its conclusion.
Cross-play multiplayer
Apart from the story mode, CoD Cold War features an extensive multiplayer mode allowing for cross-platform gameplay. The co-op zombie mini-campaign is also returning. It is worth noting that one of the zombie modes, Zombies Onslaught, was only available on Sony consoles for the first year after its release.
Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War runs on technology developed by Infinity Ward studio called IW Engine. It's a slightly older version of the engine than the one powering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, as it's based mostly on improvements known from Call of Duty: Black Ops III combined with new features introduced to the series in 2019. The graphics of the game present a very high quality.
