How to settle new islands in Anno 1800? Anno 1800 Guide and Tips
Last update: 16 April 2019
This page in our guide to Anno 1800 will teach you how to colonize new islands and get new citizens.
The developers of Anno series have decided to change the rules slightly - the player must now build a few separate towns that will gather resources. We start this process by searching for an island with resources (they are displayed right above the mini-map). Next, we have to check who owns the given island - other players will also try to expand their territory.
If one of the islands is free, select any of the ships and move it towards the island. Learn the requirements for building of a port on the island, in the above example there are 10 boards, 8 steel and 2500$. Move the wooden boards and steel on board of the ship (it should be near the port from which you can pick up things) and move them to the new shore.
When you build the port, you can start the classic modernization on the island. However, resources such as wooden boards, steel, bricks, or the number of inhabitants are discarded. So you start from scratch. But you can transport some goods by ship to speed up the expansion significantly. Mainly hunt on goods that are not available on your other Islands, then create a shopping route to transport them to the right place. This way you can continue to develop your cities and improve your society.
