Traps, obstacles, barricades - how to deal with them in Rainbow Six Siege? Rainbow Six Siege Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 02 July 2018
In Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege, the player must not only deal with enemies and reach a specific goal. He or she must also deal with additional impediments like various traps, barricades, mines and other obstacles. This chapter focuses on this aspect of the game.
Some operators in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege can use clever traps that can immobilize or wound the enemy. On the above screen, you can see a trap placed by Frost operator. When enemy gets into that trap, he or she is immobilized and becomes an easy target to eliminate.

Look under your legs
You must be careful if in the enemy team there is one of the Operators that can use traps, including:
- Frost - immobilizing traps.
- Kapkan - laser devices that are attached to doors and window frames.
- Ela - stun mines.
- Ying - stun mines.
- Lesion - poison spikes.
Most of all, before entering any room, check the ground under the windows and doors. The traps can be also masked with barbed wire or placed on walls or ceiling, in plant boxes or in bookshelves.
Neutralizing traps
The traps can be neutralized in various ways. The safest way is to use guns or grenades. First, you must find them - a drone will be best for that. If you know that there is a trap under a window you want to use, you can hang on a rope, turn your head to the down and you will be able to notice the planted trap from above.
Barbed wire
A barbed wire is an obstacle that is usually placed in important, key places like stairs leading to the bomb, narrow corridors, main entrances etc. Barbed wires are used to slow down the attackers. They additionally generate a specific noise whenever someone is trying to get through them.
Getting through barbed wires
In order to avoid generating alarming sounds that would definitely appear if you attempt to force your way through the obstacle, you should use the barrel of your rifle to break the obstacle. Usually 2 hits should be enough to neutralize the obstacle.
Fortifying walls and doors of traps
Fortifications of walls and doors of traps (hatches in the floor that enemy can use to reach the room) are used during the preparation phase. Usually, they are placed in the key spots of a room in order to protect a strategic point. Each player can place up to 2 fortification panels, which means that a group of 5 people can use 10 panels. It is worth mentioning that a fortified wall cannot be shot through.
Don't fortify all available walls
The defenders shouldn't fortify all available walls because it would limit their options to flank the enemies. Furthermore, this would make matters easier for the attackers because all defenders would be close to each other.
How to destroy reinforced walls
In order to destroy a reinforced wall you must use powerful firepower. The best way to do it is to use Thermite operator - he has a remote controlled thermal explosive that can destroy fortified walls.
Window and door barricades
Window and door barricades are made of wood that can be shot through, broken by a grenade, grenade launcher or with the weapon barrel. Barricades are a weak protection from an attack, but they limit the visibility for the attackers and they force them to create a breach, which can generate alarming sound and make it easier to determine from which side the siege will take place. Destroying a barricade usually takes 3 hits from a weapon barrel.
Breaking through the barricades
If you want to quickly break through barricades and jump into a room, you can use the following trick. Crouch and hit the lower part of the barricade twice with the barrel of the rifle. This will weaken it. Now, while staying outside the sight of the defenders, you can run towards the window and press the adequate button (space on PC) for your Operator to break the remaining part of the barricade and jump inside.
Looking into the room through the barricades
A single hit or a single shot in a barricades window or door will create a small gap through which you can check the room. You can use this to shoot down unsuspecting opponent. However, you must be very careful because the enemy might be just waiting for you to try to do this. He will be able to open fire before you can react.
Holograms
In Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege, the player can encounter devices that generate holograms that imitate operators. In the above picture, you can see a hologram of Alibi operator turned towards the stairs. Holograms are incapable of moving or shooting, but when an enemy attacks them, he or she immediately reveals his or her position on the map.
Don't let the illusion fool you!
Alibi operator can place up to 3 holograms, so you must be prepared to encounter them in strategic places like the room with a bomb or with a hostage, or the main entrances. Alibi usually can be found somewhere nearby - he is waiting for the enemy to take the bait and reveal his or her presence. Don't hit targets that aren't moving or reacting to any sounds.
