- Meeting with Charles Lanzano
- Examining the cemetery in Beauclair
- Checking the catacombs
- Option A - Removing the urn with Louis' ashes
- Option B - Removing the urn with Margot's ashes
- Ending the quest
Meeting with Charles Lanzano
You can unlock this quest by checking one of the notice boards in Toussaint or while exploring the city of Beauclair. You must meet Charles Lanzano in the Clever Cogs. The man will inform you about disturbing sounds that can be heard at night near the cemetery. You can negotiate a (very small) payment for checking the source of the sounds or start the mission immediately.
Examining the cemetery in Beauclair
The cemetery is located next to the tavern in which you met with Charles. You don't need to thoroughly examine the main part of the cemetery, you won't find any quest-related objects on the surface. Instead of that, locate the stairs that lead to the catacombs. You must wait till the night (you can use meditation) and only after that enter inside.
Checking the catacombs
Once you're in the catacombs, examine the first room on the left side. Activate Witcher Senses and start examining objects that are marked in red. Leave the room and return there after you hear suspicious sounds. Hide Geralt behind the big monument. The ghosts of Louis and Margot will appear in the room. Mister and Miss Corentin will continue the quarrel which you have interrupted. Once Geralt joins the conversation you must decide how to solve the trouble. Available options are:
- Removing the urn with Louis' ashes from the crypt. This will make the crypt "exclusive" for Margot
- Removing the urn with Margot's ashes from the crypt. This will make the crypt "exclusive" for Louis
Option A - Removing the urn with Louis' ashes
If you want to help Margot, then walk towards the Urn with ashes of Louis de Corentin and take it. Louis will ask Geralt to move the urn to the part of the catacombs occupied by gwent players. Leave the room and go downstairs. Go straight and turn to the right. Once you reach the destination you will have to take care of a group of Grave Robbers. Eliminate them and place the urn in a representative location.
Now go back to Margot who promised Geralt a reward for getting rid of Louis. Listen to woman's information about the location of the house in the garden of which she dug up gwent cards. Go to the northern part of Beauclair and find that house - it is shown on the above picture.
You must reach the back of the house. You can do it by climbing on the roof or by jumping over a wall. Keep cautious as an archespore will appear once you reach the garden. Use Igni sign to deal more damage to the monster. Hit the archespore only when it takes the form of an open flower. When it has the "closed form" it can explode and deal large number of damage. Once the garden is clear you can use Witcher Senses to find the card chest shown on the picture. It contains two cards - Bruxa (monster deck) and Barclay Els (Scoia'tael deck).
Option B - Removing the urn with Margot's ashes
If you want to help Louis, then walk towards the Urn with ashes of Margot de Corentin and take it. Margot will ask Geralt to move her urn to the grave of her mother Micheline Belrose. The grave is located in the Lebioda's Gate. Leave the catacombs and go south. Once you reach the new cemetery you must find the correct grave which is shown on the above picture. Leave the urn there.
Go back to Louis in the catacombs. The ghost will disappear but you can summon it back by trying to pick his urn. During the conversation with Louis you will learn that with his help you can obtain a valuable sword. Listen to his instructions and then go to the blacksmith Trentin's workshop in the city. Initiate a conversation during which you will obtain the unique Forged in Fire steel sword. Trentin will ask you to play gwent, it isn't mandatory.
Ending the quest
No matter what decision you made, go back to Charles Lanzano to the Clever Cogs. You can tell him the truth about what happened in the cemetery or lie to him. In both cases he will give you gold.
