Road to Old Ford | Chapter 13 The Banner Saga 2 Guide
Last update: 01 February 2017
Key moments during the journey
Right after you leave Einartoft, you will have to Take a decision concerning the caravan.
- "Anyone who can't fight stays behind" - The first dialogue option opens another window. As a result of the first line - "They'll die either way, but they won't slow us down anymore", all clansmen leave your caravan! As a result of the second one, "Then you're in charge of them, guard captain", clansmen will stay, but you assign them to guarding one of your heroes - Gudmundr. Note! The option with Gudmundr becomes available only if you have saved him In chapter 11.
- "Move out! And leave the fighting to those who know how" - The second option is, unarguably, the best one, because you neither lose a hero nor clansmen. It also improves the caravan's morale.
Right after you set out from Einartoft, you will also have to Wight another battle with Dredges, for which you will be rewarded with 25 renown points. Right after the battle, you will have to take a decision regarding the enemies
- "No, stay with us. We'll be fine" - You turn down Oli's offer and this decision takes no effect on future events.
- "Nod and send a dozen fighters with him" - As a result of this option, you lose 12 warriors.
- "We are all going to see that" - As a result of the third option, you lose 10 warriors and start another battle with Dredges. For winning the battle, you will be rewarded with 18 renown points.
During the journey, the caravan will run into a blocked passage. A battle ensues. This one is a special in that there are no limits on opponents to kill. Therefore, if you feel up to it, you can easily kill out the incoming waves of opponents. The more you kill, the more renown points you receive as a reward. If, on the other hand, you want to escape the ambush as quickly as possible, you have to destroy snowbanks shown in the above screenshot.
Another decision regards events before you enter Old Ford. You will be accosted by Krumr, who is sensing a Dredge ambush.
- "What are you getting at?" - There are two more dialogue options following. As a result of the first one - "There is no situation" - Krumr leaves to find out about the ambush. As a result of the second one - "Don't make me regret this" - Krumr leaves with 12 warriors.
- "I'm not risking fighters on one of your death wishes" - As a result of the second option, only Krumr leaves the caravan.
Note! If you have decided that Krumr is to go alone, He will not be back. Therefore, it is better to send the 12 warriors with him, because they all come back safe and sound after the events in Old Ford.
Additional events
Soon after you leave the village of Einartoft, you will have to take another decision. This time, it is about the hordes of Dredges.
- "Do what you can old man" - As a result of the first option, 12 warriors will leave the caravan.
- "Send a dozen fighters to keep Dredge at bay" - As a result of the second option, 12 warriors will leave, but the caravan's morale will improve.
- "Charge at the Dredge!" - The third option starts a battle. Before the battle itself, you will receive 5 renown points and 17 more after you win. After you pick this option, you will receive a total of 22 renown points.
- "Keep the caravan together, fending off attacks where you can" - As a result of the fourth option, 5 warriors and 16 clansmen will leave the caravan. This one is also followed by a battle with Dredges, for which you receive 17 renown points.
- "Fasolt said they might not care to fight. Keep moving." - For picking the last option, you will receive 10 renown points and improve on the caravan's morale.
