Cities and Camps | Caravan The Banner Saga 2 Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
In most cases, you will be forced to set up a camp or stop in a city at least once. It's up to you how long you stay there, but don't forget about a few important aspects of the idea of a camp. You can set up a camp at any moment by clicking a corresponding button in the interface. Do it only if you really need to, though. The main reason to set up a camp is to increase morale, which should be done only if its level dropped too much. If your caravan's morale is high enough, ignore the Rest tent.
While in a camp, check your heroes and use the opportunity to swap their places, advance them to higher levels and assign them artifacts. A Market is an element that you can only find in cities. You can buy new artifacts there (not recommended) or replenish supplies. Remember to do it only if you need them. Spend Renown on leveling the characters up.
Training tents where you can get more Renown are unique to camps and cities. The tutorial will tell you how tasks are assigned and why you should use them. Aside from the tasks, you can just practice fighting and try various strategies. No character can get hurt, but the number of kills for a specific hero counts for the experience. It means that you can easily increase the number of kills to advance a hero.
You can do two things in a training tent:
- Accept training challenges (you will receive Renown for that, and if you fail, you can retry without consequences), they usually concern using abilities of your heroes,
- Train the Clansmen to become Warriors for just a little resources. It is a good idea, but only if you have a lot of resources or you're close to a city (Warriors use more supplies than Clansmen).
Last but not least, you can talk to other members of the team. The game allows you to do it in specific moments along the campaign, usually when something important happened in the main story or when a new character joined the team. In most cases, nothing will happen if you ignore such a situation, but "completing" a conversation will occasionally give you some Renown.
