Basic information | Caravan The Banner Saga 2 Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
The whole gameplay of The Banner Saga 2 revolves around observing caravans that roam the game's world and visit locations. Each caravan consists of:
- Heroes - the only characters who can participate in fights;
- Clansmen;
- Fighters;
- Varl.
Obviously, that does not mean that members of the caravan who are not in the active team don't matter. You could say that about the Clansmen, because taking more of them with you will not give you any benefits. In case of Fighters and Varl, it's a whole different story, because having more of them improves the overall condition of the caravan. It has a direct impact on its effectiveness when it comes to warfare (it has been described in the final part of this chapter).
The main task of the Clansmen is to gather resources for you as the caravan progresses. Another thing is that they can be taught to be Warriors during a stop (in a camp). It's not recommended to do it from the very beginning, because Warriors use much more resources that Clansmen and it affects the renown points.
The members of the caravan change depending on your decisions during the journey. You can increase or decrease the number of your troops this way. Some of them offer only the "bad" choice, though, so you will lose some of your men and you won't be able to do anything about it. In most events such a scenario can be avoided by choosing the right options, winning battles or buying enough resources. It also affects the whole team's morale, so try to keep an eye on this aspect.
