Gideon's Rock - The Three Towers | The Surge 2 Walkthrough The Surge 2 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 01 October 2019
In the next stage of the game get to Gideon's Rock. This is a large location with doors leading to it from Cloud9 club and it's a break from the predominant urban jungle in The Surge 2. In this location it is worth to use a long, fast weapon, like a pike.
Defeat your opponents on your way and talk to Hawke at a nearby base. He will give you the task of killing the beast in the park, The Three Towers. Optionally, talk to Roach nearby for a side quest.
Cougar Trail
Walk behind the building to the square and head towards the CIT building, then turn right onto the Cougar Trail to head up to the first repeller. Along the way you will encounter GAIA robots and shape-shifting monsters: the EMP bullet works well on them.
Collect the card behind the statue in the museum cause it will be required later.
Reach the top and even higher up near the repeller to get to the control panel and activate the device.
Mustang Hills
Head for the Mustang Hills , a trail marked with a horse icon, from the main square.
When you reach the large terrace with "Gideon's Rock" inscription, continue through a closed door that have to be forcefully opened. Be careful, though, as there are a lot of shapeshifters downstairs.
Moments later, behind the minefield, climb the hill and activate the elevator; defeat the opponent and take the elevator to the repeller. The switch is next to it.
Boar Wilds
The last route is the Boar Wilds trail. Once you've conquered a small hill, you'll find yourself in the Metea Forest. Behind the stairs, which are also a bridge, you can activate a magnetic elevator, which is a shortcut to a location from the main base. As soon as you get out of the woods, you'll get in the boss arena...
Boss - Captain Cevantes
Between the rocks there is a boss arena. It's not a difficult opponent. He attacks with a sword and with firearms (after recharging). He can hide and attack suddenly, and sometimes scatters electric mines that paralyze you.
It's best to aim for his head and use a fast, long-ranged weapon. Also, use EMP a lot - especially when the enemy is planning to hide: you're stopping him from doing so. It's worth adopting a rather standard strategy: a few attacks, then jump backwards.
However, it is easy to predict when the enemy will attack - so you can jump off and evade at the last minute. One attack is long-ranged: So if you see your opponent preparing to attack, even though you're keeping your distance from him, better be on guard. After the battle, go up the stairs to the hill and activate the last repeller.
Final boss - Devley
After activating all repellers, return to Hawke (and deposit tech scrap). The boss arena is located in front of the base, where the square used to be. Now there's an abyss. Just jump into the arena, you won't be injured. As the boss is a robot, it is worth using a weapon with additional damage from nanites or electricity.
In this fight, anti-nanite implants and armor can be irreplaceable, which reduces these injuries (without high resistance you will have a serious problem with defeating the enemy in the third phase of the battle).
The boss has three health bars. In the first stage of the fight, attack his legs or the entire lower body. During this time, the enemy usually makes 1-3 strikes with his paws, which can be blocked. Sometimes he buries himself in the ground to attack from below - it is enough to move around the arena to avoid his attacks (the third attack with a jump is slightly more aggressive and it is worth jumping in order to evade it).
In the second stage of the battle, the boss takes on the form of shadows which you have already encountered before. He changes his form and becomes much more dynamic. Now your target is his head, which constantly rotates in your direction, so it's the closest target.
The biggest problem in the second phase of combat is the small amount of energy you can recover from the enemy's attack. It is worth using implants that increase the rate of obtaining / storing energy.
It's a good idea to play rodeo - let your opponent charge at you, then attack him after dodging; even if you take damage, it's not that much. Then deal single/double blows with a fast weapon and jump off. Blocking boss attacks is very exhausting in comparison to jumping back. It's a good idea to deal strong, fast combos - enemy can easily fall over on his back in case of severe damage and take a few extra blows.
When the enemy returns to the arena after taking the shadow form, it seems like a good time to attack - watch out if you fall into the nanite cloud that emerges as your opponent rises up. You could die on the spot.
In the third phase, the boss is very slow, but also very strong. He attacks mainly with nanites: he throws himself and slides towards you, leaving nanites behind, or creates a similar cone of nanites when hitting the ground. The key is to avoid these zones: nanites hurt the hero severely when the circle above the health bar fills up (it fills up when you are in the zone of nanites). When you are close by, the enemy attacks with his paws - for safety reasons it is better to jump twice as far. These attacks are almost fatal.
Charge his legs, one after another; aiming at other parts of his body will be ineffective and difficult. When you will destroy armor on one leg, target the other leg - after a while, this armor is restored and you deal high damage to the enemy again.
C.I.T - Payday
Now it's time to collect the reward and complete the task. Head south, near the Cougar Trail, where the CIT Resort is located. There's Jonah Guttenberg waiting for you, to whom you have to pass the brain of a defeated boss.
