How to use items in The Council? | Gameplay basics The Council Guide & Walkthrough
Last update: 15 March 2018
The Council has various items that you can pick up - they are scattered throughout the entire world. Usually, you can find them lying on the ground (they are marked with small balls of light) but some of them are inside of wardrobes, desks or chests. These items can be connected to a quest or can contain a hint about a story or a character but the majority of them offer bonuses that can help your character.

How do these items work?
Your equipment contains four types of items:
- Devil's thorn - reveals strong and weak points of a person you are currently talking with.
- Royal jelly - restores 2 Effort Points which are necessary to activate any of the abilities.
- Carmelite water - the next used ability is free (it won't need Effort Points).
- Golden elixir - removes negative statuses, e.g. fatigue.
Besides that, you can also find Amber stones - they increase your Effort Points permanently. These items don't appear in your equipment because they are used automatically upon touching them.
Books are also worth mentioning - they are scattered around the entire world but some of them can be received as a reward, e.g. after winning a confrontation. Read a book to increase one of your skills permanently. You can read them after completing a chapter - the game opens your inventory automatically and informs you about the option to select a book that you want to read.
How to use items?
Items that offer a boost can be used at any point of the game, even in the middle of a dialog. Using them during conversations is the best way - a quick recovery of Effort Points or information about weak points of a character you are talking to can give you an immense advantage. The table below contains the list of keys that allow you to use said items:
