Mission 5: Is Anybody Out There? | Walkthrough ReCore Guide
Last update: 17 October 2016
Is Anybody Out There is the fifth mission in ReCore. You'll find a detailed list and a walkthrough for all its stages below.
Descend to the Bottom and Find the Prismatic Core
When you unlock the transport pod, you can use it to upgrade your companion. You'll see some ledges right from the device, which can be used to safely descend to the bottom. Prepare for a fight, as some Rouge K-9 and SP-DR await.
\
One of them, a spider under the ledge, is yellow. It is a much tougher enemy than the earlier ones, besides - until you eliminate him, he calls for blue K-9's. You should eliminate him as he is guarding the next prismatic core. When you defeat your enemy, you'll see a blackened circle in the sand - use Mack's special ability to get the core from the ground.
Find an Alternate Route
When you've dealt with all the enemies, and got the core, continue travelling in the direction of the green indicator. After some distance, you'll be standing before a ledge and a junction. First, you should go to the right, as there is a chest hidden there. When you open it, take the left turn. After a moment, you'll be standing before a wall blocking the way further. Jump onto a ledge nearby and prepare for combat, as on the other side there are two red K-9s, one Grabber and blue AP-3 Bruiser, similar in appearance to Cadre, the boss which you have defeated in the previous mission. Take care of Grabber first, as he can eliminate your companion right away.
When you deal with them, and proceed a few meters forward, you'll be standing before a platform with a barrier and a large abyss between the tunnels. The only way left leads to the left of the platform. There is a transport pod at the beginning, which is activated when you approach it. There is a new enemy - Corebyte Destructor - between the resource chests nearby. He blows up when you approach it, so you should keep your distance.
Jump on the bridge remains leading to the further platforms. You'll notice a small object that has a Cellbot locked inside. To get him out, you need to use the extractor. Then, jump through the platforms until you reach the energy ring. To cross it, use the sprint-jump-sprint combination. The second Cellbot is held on the platform behind the energy ring. Two platforms further you'll need to enter the tower that you are currently climbing, finding a chest. Leave the tower through the opposite exit (you can see an energy ring in the distance) a look to the left - there is another platform hidden by the wall, where the missing Cellbot can be found. When you free him, return to the platform with the barrier, and the Cellbots will automatically enter the necessary sockets and activate it.
When the platform is locked in the position, destroy their shields and jump between them using the sprint-jump-sprint combination. When you reach the new tunnel, it will quickly turn out that it is closed. While looking at the dead end, turn right - you'll see a hole in the wall. Here, it is pretty dim, but there is a chest right nearby. Then, jump on the chests hanging on the ropes. Watch out - the second one is held vertically, and as the result its surface is very narrow! Jump to the next platforms, until you reach the tunnel, this time on the other side of the blockade. There is a transport pod on the left (an audio log lies nearby), while a yellow K-9 Pathfinder can be found the right. Its special ability is creating a shield that makes him invincible until you get rid of it. Once you destroy it, there is an explosion that can hurt Joule. Once you defeat it, continue using the path on the right, or return to the Crawler, to upgrade your companion.
Continue travelling along the wall until you reach the Scavenger Corebyte. This time, it is a full-fledged enemy, who will send new enemies until you destroy him. To defeat him, you need to shoot the visible holes from where Floaters fly out.
There are further two enemies of this type some meters further, and then you'll see a familiar spherical object, on which you can use the extractor. When you attempt to get the core out, you'll be attacked by three blue K-9s. As always, the best approach is constant movement and jumps. Don't forget to use the abilities of your companion. After the battle, use the extractor on the prismatic core to get it out of the object.
If you took a different route, or look behind you standing in front of the container with the core, you'll see that there is a huge, green AP-3 roaming the area. It's not a very demanding enemy, but can wait a moment before defeating him, as in a moment you'll receive blue ammo that will deal much greater damage to him.
The first of AP-3 special abilities is whirling, which deflects bullets and throw Joule off balance when touched. The second ability is the shield that regenerates his life. Aside from that, he can change his color to yellow, and the fight is joined by two blue K-9s. To defeat AP-3, use white or blue ammunition, which will deal much greater damage to him.
Find Spare Parts
Once you reach your destination, a cut-scene will begin, in which you'll receive blue ammo, and another mission objective. When the cut-scene is over, approach the transport pod that is right from the transport pod, to activate it. Your next objective is finding materials necessary for repairs. To do that, you need to return to the location where you've seen the first Scavenger Corebyte in this mission. You can cross that way on foot or use the closest transport pod.
This time, Mack may not dig the right enemy on the first try.
When you reach your destination, you'll see that the sought-after parts can be found only in green SP-DR robots, which doesn't like sunlight, and are probably buried. To find them, order Mack to dig. Problem is that this time he may not find the required enemy on the first try. Remember to defeat the enemy through destruction, and not through core extraction, as you'll receive the unnecessary item then. When you acquire it, return to the Crawler. The mission will end after a cut-scene.
