This section of the Guide to Rage 2 is a detailed description of the storyline quest The Ranger. This is the first task of the main plot, which can be seen as an introduction to the right campaign. Our step-by-step guide carefully discusses the entire prologue - you will learn: how to survive an enemy attack on Vineland and how to get to the first Ark.

Beginning of game

You should start the campaign with:

1. Selecting the level of difficulty - we recommend setting a high level of difficulty (Hard), because the game is fairly simple on normal, offering no substantial challenge.
2. Choose the sex of the main character - this Decision does not affect the course of the game, because all quests and conversations look the same, regardless of the gender of the protagonist. Rage 2 does not offer any romance options. Moreover, you will only see the character on the screen when traveling in open vehicles.

Take two starting weapons from the wall:

1. Wingstick - you can throw it at enemies. New projectiles can either be found in the game world, crafted independently, or acquired from traders.
2. Sidewinder Gun is the main weapon in the game. Initially, it does not cause much damage, but you can improve it during the campaign.

Fighting in Vineland

Get out of the watchtower and follow Lily. After you kill your first opponent, use the zip line to go down. Join the battles in the courtyard. Passing through the Vineland camp is very linear and, in addition, allies will assist you in eliminating many of the enemies you face. To kill enemies, use a gun and look for the opportunity to fling the wingstick. If some enemy gets close to the hero, they can also bring out a melee attack.

During the mission, you can put the Focus to make it easier to locate enemies. It will make it easier for you to plan further attacks. Also, collect feltrite left by defeated mutants. One of its applications is regenerating part of the main character's health bar.

After viewing the cut scenes, go to the corpse of the Ranger Jersey and take the Ranger Armor. From Lily, you will also get a Ranger Assault Rifle. It is worth using it from that moment on, it's a decent weapon.

Go to new areas inhabited by new enemies. The rifle has a much larger range than the gun. It is necessary to attack from a long distance and aim at the red barrels and other explosive objects. Along the way, you will also find Grenadines that you can use instead of the wingstick. It is necessary to throw them into groups of enemies and hold the throw button to "cook" the grenade - delay the explosion so that it blows up sooner after hitting the ground.

During the hike, you can find data pads, collecting which allows you to learn about new locations in the game world, although collecting them is a must.

During these fights, you will charge up the Overdrive for the first time. This is a special mode that increases the damage and restores the hero's health points. It is best to use it just before the start of the fighting with a large group of mutants. Navigate to where the new cut-scene is displayed.

The opening of the first Ark

After you come round, talk to Lilly. You should go to the Presidio. Follow a linear path. Along the way, you will no longer meet new enemies. Interact with the palm scanner to open the door. In the new hall, watch the holo-record.

Approach the Ark, stand in front of it and hold the Focus button. Open the Ark this way. Inside the Ark, interact with the handle of Nanotrite Injector. Thanks to this, you will be able to unlock the ability to Dash. It allows you to make quick dashes. You can additionally tilt the left analog stick to choose the direction of the dash. This ability enables you, for example, to dodge attacks or quickly close in on enemies. You need to complete a simple tutorial on this ability.

The end of the mission

First, go back to the hall with the holo-recording. You will unlock four new main missions - Blackout, the Wasteland Celebrity, Ground Control, and Project Dagger. The new main quests can be completed in any order. Each of them is described in a separate section of the walkthrough.

Go back to Lilly - you have to go through the corridor again, where the hero was previously scanned. Talk to Lilly to unlock the Projects tab. Currently, only projects of the Basic category are available. More groups can be unlocked by progressing in the campaign (you have to meet with three important NPCs from the newly unlocked main quests). Each project can be purchased by spending a Project Point on it. You will receive Points for completing missions, exploring locations, engaging in additional activities, etc.
