This page in our guide to Rage 2 contains a detailed walkthrough for Double Cross story mission. This is the second main mission received from Dr. Anton Kvasir. During this mission, you need to infiltrate a research base. You will also have the first confrontation with General Cross (a boss fight).

Unlocking the mission
You must first complete the first story mission assigned by Dr. Anton Kvasir - Ground Control. Its description is on a separate page.
The second requirement is to reach level 5 reputation for Dr. Anton Kvasir. Reputation points can be earned primarily by visiting locations on the world map and completing small tasks (for example, killing all opponents). Not all locations on the world map are associated with Dr. Kvasir. The list of locations that allow you to earn reputation points for the mayor is available in the projects menu (the picture above). These locations include:
- Arks
- Ranger Echo
- Feltrite Meteorite
To unlock this mission, look only for the above locations. Completing other types of locations will not bring you closer to unlock a new mission for Anton Kvasir.
Open the log to check your progress in gaining reputation (see the picture).
Once you reach the fifth level, wait for Kvasir to contact you over the radio and ask you to meet him. Go back to Dr. Kvasir's lab on Sekreto Wetlands. Talk to the scientist to get the mission to infiltrate the research center.

Get to Lazarus research station
Lazarus Station is located in the south-west part of the Dune Sea region, on the territory of the partially buried city. If you haven't explored the area yet, just drive south. If you are familiar with this region, it is best to use fast travel to Oasis town. From there, you will have to make a short trip to the south-west.
You can't drive to the research station's entrance. The area is guarded by a group of enemies - they shouldn't be a threat to you. Watch out for the next enemies - they will come from the station as soon as you get closer to it. Once the area is secure, start exploring the research station.
Reaching General Cross
During the exploration of the base, you can come across stashes on walls similar to the one presented in the picture - you can recognize them by pulsating purple lights. It is worth checking them - they can contain ammo, infusions and other supplies.
If you're interested in finding unique loot, check all the additional rooms and corridors.
Get to the lift. After that, continue exploring corridors and rooms. Soon, you will encounter enemies. Use your Rocket Launcher to eliminate them. Mark a few enemies with this weapon (2-4 depending on how much it has been improved) before you get noticed or before the opponents get close to you.
A large control panel is in one of the next rooms. Destroy it to release the prisoners. Be ready to defeat new enemies - they will appear immediately after performing this action.
Continue exploring the station. In one of the nearest rooms, you need to jump into a hole in the floor to get to the new section of the research station. Cyber Crusher will attack you in the large room. This fight is identical to the confrontation with the similar boss you faced during the final part of Ground Control. Below you can find the most important information regarding this fight:
- Avoid its melee attacks by jumping backward. Dodge laser attacks by jumping over beams or moving outside the laser range.
- Aim at the weak spot on the boss's chest. Once his energy bar is depleted, two blue tanks on Cyber Crusher's back will get exposed. Quickly run up to them and shoot the tanks. Repeat this pattern until both tanks are destroyed.
- As for the second part of the battle, simply attack the boss's exposed head. The boss can very quickly lose its entire (new) health bar.
- Defeat Cyber Crusher to receive Neuronic Interface, one of the items that allow you to increase your character's stats at the cyber doctor in Wellspring.
After defeating the mini-boss get to the new lift and use it. There is a prison in one of the nearest areas. Find the cell with a civilian prisoner. Interact with the nearby biometric device to deactivate the lasers. This will allow you to talk to the prisoner (Grub Gooseberry).
Reach the Sling Chamber and go to the new part of the research station. After entering the arena, the game will play a cut-scene - you meet with General Cross.
Boss fight - General Cross
You have to fight with General Cross. The fight is divided into two main phases. In the first one, the boss uses cannons. Run to the sides and shoot the boss in-between his own attacks.
You can attack Cross with almost any weapon, even the basic Ranger Assault Rifle. Weapons that work best at a short distance are exceptions. It is better to keep a safe distance from the boss to reduce the chance of getting hit.
Besides shooting at you with his cannons, the boss can also create energy waves similar to those used by Authority Sentries. Jump over them. Grav-Jump will help you survive this battle. Thanks to this skill, you can perform double jumps over the waves. If you upgraded this ability, you will be able to stay in the air for a short time.
When Cross loses about 1/3 of the health bar, it will run into the central force field. Don't follow or attack him - you won't be able to damage him for some time.
Focus on eliminating regular enemies who have just appeared on the arena. You can kill them fast with a Rocket Launcher or area skills like Shatter or Slam.
Wait for the game to mark the upper capsule. Start shooting it. Do the same with other capsules.
Now you have to repeat all the above steps - keep attacking General Cross until he enters the force field, get rid of new regular enemies, and destroy new capsules.
The second phase of the fight starts when General Cross has 1/3 of the health bar left. He will now try to also attack you with blades. Use Dash skill to avoid injuries and keep the boss at bay. You should also use Overdrive to deal more damage to the boss.
Watch the cut-scene - this isn't your last meeting with the General. You get Cross' head - you will use it later to get his DNA.
Return to Dr. Kvasir and complete the mission
Use the narrow passage that will lead you to the lift. You won't encounter any enemies on the way to the exit from Lazarus Station. The rescued civilians are standing in front of the station. You can speak with them (this is optional).
Use fast travel to move to Dr. Kvasir's laboratory. Place Cross' head into the DNA extractor. After some time, the device will give you Syringe of Nanotrite Virus.
Complete this mission to unlock Double Cross bronze trophy.
