Greenhouses in Pure Farming 2018 Pure Farming 2018 Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 27 March 2018
Greenhouses allow you to grow peppers, tomatoes and cabbage, and sell them for a profit. You will collect your crops the same day as long as you provide the right growing conditions. Every plant has slightly different features - height and time needed to grow. Unfortunately, greenhouses are not a very good investment - they require a lot of work. On the other hand, they can be used as a stop-gap when your workers are working in the field. The last section of the chapter describes the crop size for each plant, which will enable you to choose the right trailer to transport the crop and assess your profits. Remember that slow-growing plants need more water and fertilizer before you can harvest them, as the greenhouse will use the same, predefined amount of resources per hour for any crop. You should also note the crop size - if you lack large trailers, you may have trouble with quick export of large crops.
Preparation and necessary machines
A greenhouse costs EUR 15 000. You can upgrade it to level 2 for EUR 10 000. There are also industrial greenhouses, which you can read about below.
Upgrade a regular greenhouse twice to increase the amount of produced goods (at the same time) and the capacity of the containers. The cost of changing cultivated plants will be doubled. Thus, it's better to upgrade a greenhouse than build a new one. Necessary machines:
- A medium tractor with a semitrailer with water,
- A transport trailer/ truck - we recommend starting with Wielton PRC-2B. It will allow you to transport a reasonable amount of crops and can be used to carry fertilizer bags.
Remember: fertilizer bags can only be transported by Wielton PRC-2B and Metaltech PH4 (only 3.2-ton capacity) and a pickup truck.
Required activities
You will only need to keep water and fertilizer supplies above 0%. The pace at which your supplies will decrease will differ, and thus your main task is to monitor their levels. You will be notified about the crops via message and a sound effect.
- You deliver water from large containers located near water reservoirs, with the use of special trailers. You unload water supplies next to a container located right by your greenhouse.
- Fertilizer can be purchased at any shed, next to a green-blue container. One bag costs EUR 20, and can refill 10% of your supplies (at level 1); place the bags in a wooden crate by your greenhouse. Fertilizer can be transported in pickup trucks (can hold 9 fertilizer bags) or a blue/yellow (you can collect vegetables at the same time) semitrailer (each can hold 16 fertilizer bags).
Remember that you need to keep your supplies at 10% or higher to make your vegetables grow. If you run out of supplies, plants will stop growing, but you won't lose your current progress or your seedlings.
Harvesting
Plants will grow at different paces. Once they grow, they will be placed on a palette in front of your greenhouse, ready for pick up. You need to collect them within several hours or else you will start losing them (10-20% after the first day). Plants will keep growing if they have the necessary supplements.
To prevent crop spoilage:
- Sell your crops right away,
- Store them in a wooden warehouse (an apple icon on the map),
- Store them in your semitrailer - these won't spoil in there.
You can take plants for sale with any semitrailer, pickup truck or dump truck.
Plant species
Each greenhouse can be used to grow one of the three plant species: tomatoes, paprika, or cabbages. If you wish to change your decision, you'll have to pay. (1000 EUR on first level). Below you see a comparison of growth speed and crop size for the available greenhouse plants.
Growth size (percent per hour) | Crop in kg
Tomato | 7%/h | 1600 |
Paprica | 5%/h | 1150 / 1400 |
Cabbage | 4%/h | 2000 |
Exotic plants (Eggplant, Chili, Wasabi) | 6%/h | 800 |
Industrial greenhouses
I'd suggest you buy only industrial greenhouses (which are available only in Montana) if you wish to achieve a decent profit. They require much more work (and much bigger volumes of water).
They are twice as large as level two greenhouses, which also means you'll need twice the amount of resources to fill the tanks. On the other hand, not all crops will increase twofolds. The main characteristic of the industrial greenhouse is the reduced production time. This enables you to harvest the crop several times a day.
Growth speed (percent per hour) | Crop in kg
Tomato | 7%/h | 1600 |
Paprika | 5%/h | 1150 / 1400 |
Cabbage | 4%/h | 2000 |
