Grass and silage in Pure Farming 2018 Pure Farming 2018 Guide and Walkthrough
Grass and silage are essential for breeding cows. Check out how you can save your money in Pure Farming 2018.

Grass, hay and silage are the basic ingredients of natural cow feed - with it, your cattle will generate much higher profits and save you a lot of money instead of buying artificial fodder. The supply of perfectly balanced fodder made from hay, grass and silage in equal proportions guarantees a 50% increase in milk production.
There will also be a model for storing grass in heaps near the cow husbandry area. When the storage is full, the grass (unloaded from the forage wagon) turns into silage. Unfortunately, in version 1.1.1. this mechanic does not fulfill its function).
Straw
Straw is one more thing you need to produce the perfect forage. This is a product that comes into being after the combine harvester has harvested the grain from the field. However, you can also activate the straw cutter in the harvester and the field will remain empty - if you want to collect straw, make sure that this option is not activated!
You can only collect straw using the bale press: Sipma PZ 1832 PRIMA. But don't put the off for later - the straw will disappear from the field over time (only if it's loose, of course). You cannot use a forage wagon to pick up straw, nor can you wrap the straw to make silage. As with other bales, you can only place them in the forage wagon - straw is a must for the perfect forage (it replaces hay from the game version 1.0 and upwards).
Mowing
You can mow grass anywhere on the map. Use the Akpil Saturn 2.8 for this task. Grass doesn't disappear after time, so you don't have to hurry with harvesting. It is best to mow long straight lines at short distances from each other (e. g. near the windmills in Montana, or around large agricultural fields).
Once the grass has been mown, you can harvest it. However, in order to facilitate this task, it is worth using a raking machine. It picks up the grass from several strips, placing it in a single, even stripe, which is much easier to harvest. This is quick and easy with a good tractor, so it is worthwhile to use this facility. Attention - The grass grows up after midnight; the best way to mow again at the same place next day is to mow again - the grass accumulates in one place and you'll have less work to do when harvesting.

Collecting / making bales
Grass can be collected in two ways: by using a forage wagon or a baler. A wagon can store a lot of grass that can be unloaded near a small silo near the barns. Then, you can load it into a feeder (Metaltech WP6) by using a shovel.
The second option, baler, has 3 characteristic features:
- Grass formed into a bale is easier to transport, especially at a longer distance (one bale weights 500 kg),
- You can sell bales by standing next to them and pressing the displayed button (the price is 100 EUR / bale),
- Bales can be wrapped in a foil and turned it into ensilage (the price of that bale is now doubled).
Bales are easy to create: drive a baler (Sipma PZ 1832 PRIMA) on cut grass and release bales when the device's container is full. You can leave the bales and collect them later or you can do this now...
Use a front-end loader with an attachment to transport bales (fork or gripper - the first attachment is for picking up grass bales while gripper is for picking up wrapped bales but it can also deal with "raw" bales). Move them on a bale trailer or put them into a feeder. Another way of transporting them is to use a trailer that can load bales automatically and make their transportation easier - Sipma NR 1600 KOMBO (Trailers tab).
Ensilage
To create ensilage, which is a part of feed (and its value is 200 EUR / unit), you only need any of the machines that can wrap bales. Ensilage needs 100 hours to be produced (4 days). You can use one of the following machines:
- Akpil Bale - attach it to one tractor and lower on the ground; the second tractor should be equipped with a front-end loader that will load bales on the wrapper.
- Sipma OS 7535 MAJA - attach it to a tractor, drive around your field and approach grass bales to load them automatically on the machine - this solution is much faster and is worth the price.
