Its strength lies in runic attacks - No Rest for the Wicked: Is there magic? - FAQ - No Rest for the Wicked Guide

Its strength lies in runic attacks. Even the simplest weapon of this type found very early in the game - Gnarled Staff - allows you to use 2 interesting runic attacks.

  1. Fireball - a fire projectile dealing a lot of damage;
  2. Channel - a skill that allows converting health into Focus points.

Of course, there are more runic attacks to which you receive access further into the game (more on linking Runes can be found on the page linked above). Using a Staff is probably the closest No Rest for the Wicked offers in terms of playing as a wizard. Although you still need to engage in close-range fights to replenish Focus, you will be able to cast magic spells.
