Fast travel feature is a staple of many contemporary games, especially those that take place in an open world or have large, expansive locations. No Rest for the Wicked also follows this trend. However, fast travel in this game has certain limitations that force the players to carefully plan and choose paths.
How does travelling to Whispers work?
Mysterious luminous structures called Whispers are scattered all across the island. Interacting with such an object creates a checkpoint to which your hero will return after dying. However, Whispers also work as means of fast travel.
After defeating the first boss and reaching the town of Sacrament, you'll encounter a special, main Whisper. This object serves as the fast travel hub. From now on, once you encounter one of lesser Whispers on the map and interact with it, you'll be able to teleport to the Whisper in the capitol. This option will be especially useful when you want to return to the town to replenish supplies or repair damaged equipment.
Once you've taken care of all your business in Sacrament, you can go back to the main Whisper. Here you'll be able to instantly teleport to the last visited Whisper that you've activated. This is the main restriction on fast travel in No Rest For the Wicked - you need to strategically activate Whispers while away from the city as to not lose connection with an important portal.
