Last update: 25 April 2024
While traversing the dangerous world of No Rest for the Wicked, you may need to quickly pause the game without having to exit it. On this page of our guide, we explain whether there is a pause option in the game and what to do if you suddenly need to step away from the computer for a while.
How to pause the game?
Unfortunately, at the moment there is no pause option in No Rest for the Wicked. Opening the inventory, character, or map screens doesn't pause the game, which may lead to unfortunate situations where a stray enemy attacks the player currently browsing these tabs. As a result, always make sure to check whether the area is safe before entering any of the menus.
If you know that you'll need to step away from the computer or console for a moment, and don't want to exit the game, you can use the "Exit to menu" option from the menu. It will take you back to the starting screen, from where you can continue the game when you're ready. The automatic save system, according to our experience, works quite well, so you shouldn't have to repeat any segments or enemies when you delve back into the game.
The lack of a classic pause is bothering many players, who clearly inform about it, e.g. on Steam community website. However, note that No Rest for the Wicked is still in Early Access. We can therefore hope that the developers will take players' comments to heart in subsequent updates.
