General tips

There are many mechanics and interactions Morty players must master to be successful - MultiVersus: Morty - how to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

There are many mechanics and interactions Morty players must master to be successful:

  1. When Morty approaches an ally, he'll automatically give them a grenade. Said ally will throw the grenade forward during their next attack. When allies receive a grenade, they also get some grey health.
  2. Shooting thrown grenades blows them up, creating large explosions. It damages enemies and has high knockback.
  3. Hitting grenades makes them fly further and deal damage on impact. The game considers them projectiles. They blow up after a short while or when you shoot them with a laser.
  4. Your Up Special creates a large platform. This move works great against enemies close to the ceiling. You can also use it to save your team from falling off the arena.
  5. Your Down Attack, cleaning the floor with the Plumbus, can weaken enemies and cleanse allies all at once.
  6. Hitting a grenade with your Side Special splits it into two smaller grenades.
  7. Morty's best move is Down Special. It creates a so-called save point. A moment after setting it up, you'll rewind time and return back to the save point. You'll also leave a grenade at the exact spot you were before time rewinded. Its most important feature, however, is the ability to save your allies from ring outs. If your ally falls off the map while the save point is active, they'll appear in it instead of dying.

Signature Perks

Morty has access to 3 Signature Perks - MultiVersus: Morty - how to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

Morty has access to 3 Signature Perks. The first is I'm More Than Just A Hammer. The third hit of your Side Attack combo is a hammer swing. The perk replaces the swing with a spin, letting Morty hit enemies several times.

The second is Extra Fleeb Juice - MultiVersus: Morty - how to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

The second is Extra Fleeb Juice. Clearing the floor with your Down Attack lets you destroy traps set up by enemies.

The third is Oh That's Still A Grenade - MultiVersus: Morty - how to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

The third is Oh That's Still A Grenade. The longer you charge your grenade, the greater its blast radius will be. Moreover, all grenades thrown by your allies always have the maximum blast radius.

Oh That's Still A Grenade is Morty's best signature perk. Your team will be using grenades very frequently. More Fleeb Juice is the weakest option, as removing traps isn't too useful. I'm More Than Just A Hammer sounds intriguing, but the hammer spin has too much knockback to hit the same enemy a few times, the attack animation is slow and can be easily interrupted.

Recommended build

This build focuses on reducing cooldowns and throwing grenades - MultiVersus: Morty - how to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

This build focuses on reducing cooldowns and throwing grenades:

  1. Deadshot - an offensive bonus that will increase your team's projectile damage by 5%, and if your ally chooses it, the bonus will be 10%.
  2. Coffeezilla - a utility perk, allowing 10% lower cooldown times. Bonus is increased to -15% once an ally chooses the same perk. Many of Morty's moves come with cooldowns, making this his most important perk.
  3. That's Flammable, Doc! - an offensive bonus that allows your team to set fire to the enemy with a basic attack for 1 second, within 3 seconds after knocking back an enemy with a projectile. If an ally stacks this perk with you, the effect lasts for 2 seconds.

Use your Down Special wisely - MultiVersus: Morty - how to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

Use your Down Special wisely. This is your most valuable move by far. It can save you from trouble if used right.
