Batman is a Bruiser, specializing in melee combat. Despite this, he's one of the few characters with access to a ranged attack, in form of his Batarang. He can also inflict debuffs and use a grappling hook which can efficiently transport him around the arena.

General tips

1 - MultiVersus: Batman - How to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide
  1. By holding down the jump button, Batman can glide, slowing down his falling speed. This can come in handy if you're outside the arena, with an enemy waiting for you.
  2. Pick up the Batarangs whenever possible. This decreases the skill's cooldown time, letting you use it more often.
  3. Batman can affect enemies with various debuffs, so you should consider perks which will let you profit more off them.
  4. Improper use of the Bat-Grapple can easily result in your death. Make sure not to go too fast when using it, otherwise you can accidentally ring out.
  5. When Batman turns invisible, which he can do by using his Down Special, he becomes faster with his attacks stacking the Weaken debuff x3 (up to x5).
  6. After throwing the Batarang, you can control Batman and the projectile at the same time. If the Batarang fails to hit anyone, it will come back to you. Catch it to reset its cooldown.
  7. You can attach the grapple to the floor, the platforms, the walls, as well as the enemies and allies. You can also fly through enemies if you gain enough speed, hitting them on the way.
  8. Your Neutral Special equips a bomb, which you'll attach to the next enemy you hit. You can also stick it to your Batarang and throw it at an enemy - it will stick if it hits, blowing up after a moment and knocking enemies upwards.

Batman has access to two signature perks - MultiVersus: Batman - How to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

Batman has access to two signature perks. One of them is Bouncerang . This is currently the best signature perk available. Your Batarang will apply max Weaken debuff if it hits an enemy while returning to you. Doing so isn't difficult and grants you a big advantage.

The second perk is the Precision Grapple. Equipping it causes a powerful explosion when Batman uses the grapple and reaches his destination. Unfortunately, this also decreases the damage you deal while flying past enemies. The grapple is currently pretty bugged (Patch 1.0), so we don't recommend this perk.

  1. I'll Take That - an offensive perk, which decreases your allies' skill cooldowns by 0.5 second when attacking a debuffed enemy. Many of Batman's skills have cooldowns and apply debuffs, meaning this perk synergizes with him very well. Stacking this perk decreases cooldowns by a full second.
  2. Percussive Punch Power - an offensive perk, which increases the damage your team deals with attacks that knock enemies back horizontally by 5%. Batman's basic combo, as a well as his Down Attack, the Bat-Slide, both knock enemies back horizontally, meaning he can take a serious advantage of this perk. Stacking this park increases the damage bonus to 10%.
  3. Hit'em While They're Down - an offensive perk, which increases the damage your team deals against debuffed enemies by 5%. Batman can inflict debuffs very often, meaning both you and your allies will benefit from this perk.

Some of the perks synergize great with Batman, though they are pretty situational. Nevertheless, they're worth considering and using sometimes:

  1. Wildcat Brawler - an offensive perk, thanks to which your team deals 5% more damage with melee attacks on the ground. When an ally chooses this perk, the bonus will increase to 10%.
  2. Last Stand - a utility perk, which increases the damage your team deals by 10% after reaching 100 damage (the number under your character). The effect activates at 90 when the perk is stacked.
  3. Triple Jump - A utility perk which gives your team an additional jump if they hit an enemy in mid-air. Stacking the perk makes the additional jump always available.

How to win as Batman?

Remember not to mindlessly throw your Batarang whenever it comes off cooldown - MultiVersus: Batman - How to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

Remember not to mindlessly throw your Batarang whenever it comes off cooldown. It's a very important part of your combos, and - if you equip the Bouncerang signature perk - can debuff enemies on its way back to you.

In combat use your Side and Down Attacks, sometimes knocking enemies into the air with your Up Attack. This lets you inflict a debuff on them.

Remember you can aim your grapple - MultiVersus: Batman - How to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

Remember you can aim your grapple. After a short moment Batman will fire it and latch on to an enemy, an ally, the floor, the wall or any object in the arena. You'll also hit all the enemies on the way while reeling in. This skill is useful, but don't overuse it as you can easily end up ringing yourself out by accident.

Your smoke bomb is extremely useful, as it can make you invisible - MultiVersus: Batman - How to play? - Bruiser - MultiVersus Guide

Your smoke bomb is extremely useful, as it can make you invisible. You can also apply three debuff stacks at once by hitting an enemy while standing in the smoke cloud. You can throw your Batarang from the cloud as well. If your enemies can't react quickly, they'll be damaged and heavily debuffed.
