MultiVersus: LeBron James - how to play?
On this page of the MultiVersus guide you will read about LeBron James, who is a bruiser, we also describe his best perks. He is a hero from the universe of Space Jam: A New Legacy.
LeBron James in Multiversus is of Bruiser class. The NBA world star's moveset mostly consists of throwing a ball and passing it to his allies. On this page of the guide, you can learn how to utilize him best when fighting other players or AI-controlled opponents.
General tips
LeBron's moveset might seem overly complicated at first, as he behaves differently depending on whether he's holding the ball or not:
- He can use his specials to send the ball flying in any direction. To retrieve it, you must catch it after it bounces. If you fail, you'll be stuck using your regular attacks for a while.
- If you're not holding a ball, your Neutral Special will conjure one in your hands. If you are holding a ball, you'll execute an aimed throw.
- Your Side Special dunks the ball downwards if you're holding it, and performs a shoulder charge if you're not. This move becomes extremely effective if your ally hits an enemy with the ball. If they do, the Side Special will teleport you to the ball's location and perform the powerful dunk. This also grants you armor. Enemies hit by the dunk are inflicted with the Weakened status.
- LeBron's Down Special can block small projectiles. It only has this property when he's not holding the ball. LeBron stands still and creates a barrier. Successfully blocking an enemy projectile returns the ball to him.
- His Neutral Attack grants armor. It's a slow shoulder check you can charge to increase its range. If you hit an ally with it, you'll grant them armor as well.
Signature Perks
LeBron James has access to 3 signature perks. The first is For Three!. If you or your ally hit an enemy with the basketball from a large distance, it will explode on impact, dealing more damage and knockback.
The second is Keep Possession. When LeBron or his allies receive a pass, they gain grey health for a few seconds.
The third is Hot Hands. Passing the ball to your ally ignites it. Then, when the ally throws it at an enemy and hits, you can use your Side Special to teleport to it and execute a powerful dunk which creates a firewall on the ground.
Hot Hands is currently the best signature perk in 2v2 battles. You won't be able to make use of its potential in 1v1 battles. When dueling, choose For Three! or Keep Possession instead.
Keep Possesion Build
This build focuses on bombarding enemies with your basketball and building up grey health for your team:
- Make It Rain, Dog! - an offensive perk, which increases your team's projectile speed by 20%. If the ally also chooses this, the bonus will increase to 25%. LeBron can benefit from this perk a lot, both offensively and defensively.
- Leg Day Champ - a utility perk, which increases your jump height by 10%, or by 15% when stacked with an ally.
- Retaliation-Ready - a utility perk. After hitting an enemy with a projectile, your team will receive 3 gray health for 3 seconds. If an ally chooses this perk, the bonus will increase to 8 points. Grey health absorbs damage without losing actual health points.
Hot Hands Build
Pass the ball to your ally often when using this build, as you'll be able to execute a powerful dunk with your Side Special if they hit:
- Make It Rain, Dog! - an offensive perk, which increases your team's projectile speed by 20%. If the ally also chooses this, the bonus will increase to 25%. LeBron can benefit from this perk a lot, both offensively and defensively.
- That's Flammable, Doc! - an offensive perk, which gives your team's basic attacks an incendiary effect after knocking back an enemy with a projectile (in this case, your basketball). The effect can be activated for 3 seconds after the projectile hit and lasts for 1 second. If an ally stacks this perk with you, the effect lasts for 2 seconds.
- Triple Jump - a utility perk. You receive a third jump if you hit an enemy in mid-air. If stacked with an ally, the third jump is available always.
How to win as LeBron James?
LeBron is a balanced character, able to do well in melee and ranged combat. Don't focus on only one approach. Once the battle begins, get close to your ally to pass the ball to them as often as possible. Both of you should be throwing it to fully make use of LeBron's damage potential.
If an ally or you missed with the ball, you can use your Down Special if the enemies start firing at you. This will let you shield yourself from danger and get your ball back.
Remember you can also retrieve the ball by hitting enemies with your regular attacks. Don't be scared of melee combat. LeBron has access to some interesting combos, like his Side Atack which has plenty of knockback.
Cooperate with your ally. Bouncing the ball off enemies is very important, as it lets you use powerful dunks. They can defeat enemies much faster and increase your overall chances.
Your last worthwhile move is your Up Special when not holding the ball. It causes LeBron to throw chalk after a short windup, dealing damage and knocking enemies upwards. Most importantly, if it hits an ally, it grants them a triple jump buff.
