This page to the Lost Judgment guide provides a walkthrough to Chapter 1: Black Sheep. You'll learn how to follow somebody, take pictures, and catch Kosuke. We explain what to do in Yokohama and Seiryo High School.
Following Kosuke
Chapter 1 begins by following a boy named Kosuke. Go after him at a safe distance and watch for his alertness level, represented by the percentage in the upper right, not to rise to 100%.
If the person you are watching begins to suspect something, hold down the triangle/Y. Your character will start playing with his phone or tying their shoes to avoid attracting attention to himself.
When you arrive at the indicated location on the minimap, your task will be to take a picture of the suspect. Press square/X to enter camera mode, cross/A to take a picture.
To pass the mission with the excellent grade, your photo should:
- Has a good sharpness - the left analog sets the focus of the picture;
- Kosuke and the woman will be smiling - wait until the item on the right side of the screen is unchecked;
- The maximum zoom - hold down R2/RT until fully zoomed in.
After the picture is taken, continue to follow Kosuke.
At this point, you will take part in your first fight in the game and get familiar with the Crane Style combat.
On the right side of the screen, you will see the steps you have take to complete the tutorial:
- Hit enemies 9 times - walk up to an enemy and press square/X;
- Move 5 times while remaining in fighting stance - hold R1/RB and move with the left analog;
- Protect yourself from frontal attack 3 times - hold L1/LB to maintain guard;
- Do 3 dodges by taking a fighting stance - while holding down R1/RB, press cross/A when one of the opponents attacks you.
After completing the tutorial, defeat all the enemies and follow Kosuke again. Go after him into the store and take a picture of him as he withdraws money from the ATM. The photo has to be well focused and show how much money Kosuke is withdrawing. Then continue to follow the boy.
Building infiltration
The next task is to find the entrance to the building. Press the left analog to enter Search Mode. R2/RT you zoom in the camera, cross/A is used to examine an object or location. The only entrance to the building will be an open window on the 2nd floor.
Search the alley to find a way to climb up to the open window. Investigate the air conditioners, located on the opposite side.
Walk up to the air conditioner, your character should automatically jump onto it and enter Parkour mode.
The yellow bar above your character's head indicates the fatigue level of your hands. If the bar runs out, Yagami will let go and fall down.
While in Parkour mode, use the left analog to move left or right. If you want to jump up or down, hold the circle/B and move the left analog up or down.
Jump onto the protruding wall, then turn right and walk the scaffolding. Jump and grab the highest pipe on the building and go to the right. When you reach the end of the pipe, lower yourself down.
While holding the left analog down, press the circle/B to hover on the pipe. Move to the right past the meowing cats until you get to the window.
Once you enter the building, you will be attacked by enemies. For this fight, you will be introduced to Tiger Style and Extreme Actions styles.
To complete the tutorial, you have to:
- Make 3 special attacks - hit your opponent with square/X, then press triangle/Y;
- Make 3 charged attacks - hit your opponent with square/X, then hold down triangle/Y;
- Grab the enemy and attack him 5 times - walk up to the enemy and press circle/B to uplift him up and throw him against the ground;
- Attack your opponent with an object 5 times - press the circle/B next to the object to pick it up and hit your opponent with it by pressing the circle/B again;
- Use a finishing attack - walk up to a lying opponent and press triangle/Y when a mark appears above them.
After completing the tutorial, defeat 2 enemies.
In stealth mode, open the door and hide behind cardboard boxes. Then point the camera at the person standing and press triangle/Y.
Enter through the door located in front of you. There will be a sleeping man in a chair in the room. To open the next door, you have to take the keys that lie on the desk. The man will wake up from time to time, wait until he goes to sleep again, and pick up the item you need.
Then go through the door and climb the outside stairs to the 5th floor of the building.
The next door will have to be opened with a picklock. Use the left analog to move the picklock left or right and the right analog to move it up or down.
Carefully move all three pegs up, starting with the one on the left to open the lock.
Enter the room and throw the coin in the designated place, pressing R2/RT. Wait for your opponent to approach the source of the sound. Get close to him, and press triangle/Y when the symbol appears above his head. Finally, enter the room where Kosuke is.
After a short cut-scene, defeat Kosuke. In the next fight, you will face more enemies and learn about EX Boost.
To complete the tutorial, press R2/RT when the charge bar in the upper left corner of the screen fills up to trigger your character's boost. Then defeat the rest of the opponents.
Chasing Kosuke
After winning the fight, Kosuke will start running away. In chase mode, your character automatically runs after the target and turns in the right direction himself. Focus on avoiding obstacles and follow the on-screen directions.
Pay attention to your character's health bar in the upper left corner of the screen. When its depleted, Yagami gets tired and loses the chase. Use items in your inventory that restore health or pick up items from the ground while running. Successfully avoiding obstacles reduces the health loss.
Running after Kosuke, take the path on the left. When his health runs out (the bar at the bottom of the screen), catch up with him and press circle/B.
After talking to Ryuzo Genda and your partner, head to the bar with Kosuke and defeat all the opponents. Then go to the Yagami Agency headquarters and talk to Kaito.
Yokohama
After leaving the station, head to the designated location on the map, the Yokohama 99 headquarters. Along the way, you will have to defeat several students of the Seiryo School. With this fight, you will learn about Snake Style.
To complete the tutorial, you have to:
- Maintain guard while taking blows 5 times - hold L1/LB and wait for opponents to attack you 5 times;
- Push back the enemies attack 3 times - when the enemy attacks, press L1/LB;
- Attack 3 frightened enemies - when the EX bar is charged, approach the enemy with the blue aura and press triangle/Y.
After winning the battle, continue ?travel to the Yokohama 99 headquarters
Head to a restaurant in Chinatown. When talking to chairman Okuda, select all dialogue option. If you want to end the conversation, select Enough work talk for now.
Upon returning to the Yokohama 99 headquarters, you will need to complete the side case - Skateboard Detective vs. The Reseller. After completing the task, return to headquarters and relax on the couch.
Seiryo High School
Dress up in work clothes. After leaving the building, take a nearby cab to get to Seiryo High School quickly.
Follow Kaito to set up the cameras. Then go up the stairs. Set up another camera in the men's restroom on the 3rd floor and head up the stairs.
There will be a janitor sitting on the stairs. Go into observation mode and examine the bottle and the cigarette the janitor holds in his right hand. When talking to the janitor, chose I'll report you for smoking. Return to Kaito.
Head to the 2-2 classroom. When the teacher enters, choose the dialogue option: The Chairman hired us, followed by Okuda-san - how could I forget. Once all cameras are set up, follow the marker to the gym.
Return to the 2-2 classroom and enter Observation mode. Examine the girl's shoes, notebook on the desk, hand, back and head. Then go to Chairman Okuda's room. During the talk, select the dialogue option: The onlookers are the problem.
Go to the broken camera on the 2nd floor. After going out the window, walk a bit to the right and jump up to the pipe. Move on the pipe to the right and jump to the roof.
Go straight and use the ladder on the left. Then climb the second ladder to the roof of the building and approach the designated spot. While holding down R2/RT, take a run-up and do a long jump. Finally, enter the school building through the window.
Walk up to the designated area and watch the security guards standing nearby. Walk down the hallway to the stairs, go down, and press triangle/Y to eavesdrop on the next conversation.
Go back up the stairs and head to the roof. Another security guard will be standing at the entrance. Aim the camera, and press R2/RT to throw a bomb at him. Then run up the stairs and out the door.
There will be many people on the building roof - don't sprint to avoid arousing suspicion! Walk quietly past the students. When passing security guards, make sure they stand back to you. Go through the door on the other side of the roof.
Go down the stairs and throw a coin next to the security guard to distract him. Then head to the 2nd floor.
The 2nd floor corridor will be patrolled by single security guard. When he approaches you, you can hide in a nearby restroom. Then go to the designated place in the hallway by the students' lockers.
Wait until the security guard approaches the classroom door and throw a coin again. Proceed to the next checkpoint and enter classroom 2-2 to plug speakers.
After you start fighting the students, defeat the regular enemies first. The life bar of the strongest student will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
At some point, a yellow aura will appear around Ya-kun, giving him a boost to attack. To defend against such attacks use so-called Mortal Reversal. When Ya-kun is getting ready to strike, quickly press X/A to dodge. A circle/B will appear on the screen, press it quickly to perform a counterattack.
After winning the battle, return to Yokohama 99 headquarters and relax on the couch. At the end, head back to school.
