This page of the Kingdom Come Deliverance guide offers a solution for a potential bug during A Bird in the Hand side quest. We explain what to do if your bird cages have disappeared and how to overcome this problem in order to finish the quest successfully.
A Bird in the Hand is one of the side quests available in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Sadly, this quest has a lot of problems which means that completing it in version 1.2.5 or older can be very difficult or even impossible. The walkthrough for that quest can be found in the chapter dedicated to side quests. Here is the list of potential bugs and ways of solving them:
- Drink a Saviour Schnapps as soon as you reach Vranik forest. Thanks to that you won't have to replay the entire quest from the beginning if you encounter problems.
- Leave your horse right before you enter the area marked in yellow. The presence of your mount can cause problems with the process of setting traps and collecting cages.
- Reach a place where you can hear a nightingale singing. Throw out one cage from the inventory and be sure that it landed on the ground (an example is presented in the picture). If you don't see it then this means that you have a bug and you should reload your save from before you entered the forest.
- You have to collect a cage with a bird inside of it. Reach a "full" cage (an example in the picture). If you can't see it in the place marked on the map then this means that you have another bug. Here, you also need to load your previous save.
Don't save your game after you have collected all three cages (don't do that manually nor automatically by, e.g. reaching your bed) because this can cause a bug that won't let you finish this quest. Also, you won't be able to have a proper conversation with Berthold. Collect all cages and go back to the Huntsman. Save your game after the quest is completed.
