Horizon Zero Dawn: Fast travel | Gameplay mechanics Horizon Zero Dawn Guide, walkthrough
Last update: 06 August 2020
In the following chapter you'll find a bunch of essential information concerning the fast travel system in Horizon Zero Dawn. You'll learn, for example, how to use it and what conditions have to be met for you to be able to fast travel.
How to use fast travel?
In the course of the game, you will sometimes encounter campfires, scattered across the entire map at a certain distance from one another. By interacting with them, you mark them as checkpoints; you can also save your game while you're at it. Later on, you can approach any of the already lit campfires and use it to save your game, making it simple to instantly close the app without loosing any progress.
Activated campfires are marked green on the world map. If you need, you can later select a lit campfire and fast travel to its location. This can be done only when on the world map, so don't bother searching for hidden options at a campfire.
You can also fast travel to settlements you've discovered.
When can I use it?
At any moment during the game, assuming the map isn't currently blocked by any plot events. If you can freely explore, you can also freely move to your marked campfire.
That said, fast travel does have some limitations. In contrast to some other open-world games, Horizon Zero Dawn allows for fast travel only when you are in possession of a certain item, which makes fast traveling possible. Fast travel packs can be bought from merchants. You can also find them in random locations when exploring abandoned camps and ruins.
You are free to spend the packs however you see fit, but before using one, we suggest you make a quick calculation whether you shouldn't save the pack for a longer travel.
