How does a keepers job look like in Graveyard Keeper? Graveyard Keeper Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 03 September 2018
Graveyard Keeper tells the story of, well, a graveyard keeper. You need to keep in mind that most of the activities in the early phase of the game will revolve around transporting, storing and burying corpses. This page contains tips that might help you at your new job.
Every few days the donkey will bring you a corpse. Even if you are not near the graveyard at the moment, you will still hear the sound of a bell.
Always check the quality of a corpse. It can be checked by looking above the corpse itself. The lower the quality of the corpse, the bigger negative impact it will have on your graveyard.

A body lying on the ground for days - it is time to throw it into the river!
If you forget about taking the corpse from your yard or the morgue for several days, its quality will decrease. If you place such a body into a grave, it will in turn decrease the quality of your graveyard. It might not be the most ethical thing to do, but in most cases it is better to throw such a body into the river.
After the first save game (going to sleep) a ghost should appear near your bed. He will give you a quest that requires you to throw a body into the river. You will have to exhume the corpse. However, you must get a permission to do this, which can be acquired in church for 175 bronze coins.
Remember! Look around carefully - you must make sure that no one is near the river.
Meat can always be helpful
When the donkey brings you a corpse, you can carry it into the morgue. There you can place it on the autopsy table and start cutting different parts of it. You can acquire skin, meat, bones, fat, as well as various internal organs. Those will be useful during missions or to make some additional cash. A human body is worth a lot, even in Graveyard Keeper.
Cutting out body fragments may worsen the condition of the corpse. So cut out only the elements you really need. In addition, refer to the page on embalming corpses.
Exhumation
In Graveyard Keeper you can also exhume previously buried corpse. However, you first need to get permission for that. The permission can be purchased in the church for 175 bronze coins. Such a body can be taken out from a grave, have all of the organs cut off and then placed back into the grave.
Burying corpses
Your main task as a keeper is to bury corpses. In order to do it, you need to go to the graveyard, dig out a hole, place the corpse inside and then bury it again. Additionally, you can add a cross or a plate by clicking on the grave.
Cremation
In the later stages of the game you will be given the option to cremate corpses. You can unlock it by buying the "cremation" skill from the skill tree. To do this, you must craft a fireplace (new each time), place the corpse on it and set it on fire. The fireplace can be crafted with 8 wood billets.
For each burnt corpse you will get 1 salt, 5 ash and 1 burial certificate.
You can make Ceramic funeral urns out of 5 ashes and 1 clay pot each. To create an urn, you must go to the cooking table with your ingredients and select the appropriate option.
If you burn 12 bodies and create 12 Ceramic funeral urns you will be able to create a Stone Columbarium. In addition, you will need 4 Wooden beams and 4 Polished bricks of stone. You can set up a stone columbarium in the cemetery, giving you an extra 12 quality points.
