Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Video Game Series
Signed by the name of a popular American writer, the series of tactical shooters in a military convention. The series was created by the Red Storm Entertaiment studio (now Ubisoft Red Storm), which still oversees its development. The rights to the brand, however, are held by Ubisoft.
The plot of the games in the series Ghost Recon is not based on any of the books branded with Tom Clancy's name. In the course of the game, players take on the role of members of a fictional special unit, the titular "Ghosts" who are part of Delta Company of the 1st Battalion of the 5th Special Forces Group of the US Army. The formation is engaged in carrying out top-secret operations, usually deep behind enemy lines. In most productions under this banner, the story campaign is complemented by an extensive multiplayer mode.
The first installment of the series, namely Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, was released in 2001 on personal computers and Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube consoles. The game was very well received among critics and was considered one of the events of the year. Encouraged by its success, the developers at Red Storm Entertainment prepared three additions to their masterpiece: Desert Siege (2002), Island Thunder (2002) and Jungle Storm (2004). At the same time, work began on the sequel - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2. It was released in 2004 exclusively on sixth-generation consoles, with Xbox owners being the only ones to receive an expansion a year later - the Summit Strike. The developers have not slowed down, as evidenced by the imminent releases of two more games in the series - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter i Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2; they hit consoles and PCs in 2006 and 2007 and confirmed the brand's good reputation. However, players had to wait for the next part of the series until 2012, when the game arrived on store shelves. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. After five years, however, the following game went on sale Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands, in turn, its direct sequel, the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, came out in 2019.
The series is complemented by a number of side installments, such as. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator (which was released for the PlayStation Portable handheld in 2010), prepared for the Nintendo Wii console Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (which was released in 2010 for the Nintendo 3DS), a 2011 strategy game titled Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars or Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Phantoms, a multiplayer shooter made available to PC gamers in 2014.
In most games in the series Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon the action is observed from a third-person perspective. In the course of the game, we have to demonstrate not only reflexes and an accurate eye, but also the ability to plan actions and command small squads of soldiers. Although until 2017 in productions from under this banner there was a division into missions, the game Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands introduced an open world to the series, where you can move freely on foot or at the controls of various vehicles and machines. W Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint the gameplay, on the other hand, tried to diversify with elements borrowed from RPGs and so-called looter shooters. The commercial and artistic failure of this title, however, forced the ruling company Ubisoft to revise its plans for the chosen direction of the brand.
