Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
Action
February 25, 2014
A sequel to the 2010’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, a hack ‘n’ slash game. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and its prequel were both developed by Mercury Steam Entertainment in cooperation with Konami. The players learn the further fate of Gabriel Belmont. The protagonist fell victim to evil and transformed into a Lord of Shadow. After centuries of loneliness and anguish, his old friend, Zobek, extends an unusual offer to him: setting him free from the curse of vampirism in exchange for help in fighting Satan. The action takes place in two words simultaneously—a dark, futuristic town and a medieval castle. The core of the gameplay is combat against hordes of enemies that can be exterminated with sword, claws, and special vampire abilities.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Action
October 5, 2010
Another full-fledged installment in the legendary series of action games, developed by the Spanish developer Mercury Steam in cooperating with Konami - the creators of all the previous installments. The protagonist is called Gabriel and he is a member of the Brotherhood of Light. The organization fights evil forces, and Gabriel is given a mission to eliminate the titular Lords of Shadow. However, Gabriel has a personal goal to achieve as well, for he wishes to find and obtain a magical mask, the artifact required to bring his murdered wife back to life. In terms of mechanics, the game reshapes the standard platforming elements of the franchise to fit into the third-person action convention. The player traverses the game world on foot or on horseback, eliminating hordes of enemies encountered on the roads, and facing powerful, demanding bosses. The player makes use of several basic weapon types, including the token combat cross. The combat skills of the protagonist are improved as the game progresses.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard
RPG
February 26, 2013
The first large story expansion to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the fifth installment in the cult RPG series developed by Bethesda. The expansion called Dawnguard focuses its story on the return of a powerful vampire lord – Harkon - who intends to cover the sun by using an Elder Scroll and a mythical weapon, and bring eternal darkness to the world. The titular order of vampire hunters is standing in his way. The main protagonist of the game must temporarily take a break from hunting dragons in order to join one side of the conflict. Depending on the choice, new paths open before the protagonist – he can transform into a vampire or he can gain access to interesting weapons and spells. In addition to new areas to explore, new quests to complete and new enemies to defeat, the expansion introduces the possibility to fight on horseback, the option to change the look of the protagonist and new skill trees, which – what’s interesting – aren’t assigned for experience points, but for killing opponents who have them.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - Revelations
Adventure
March 25, 2014
An extensive DLC for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - a third-person hack and slash game. The expansion enriches the plot of the core game with a new thread. Interestingly, the Revelations DLC puts the player in the shoes of a different character, which is the main feature here. The player assumes the role of Alucard - a vampire son of Count Dracula, known under the name Trevor Belmont before turning into a bloodsucker. Casting the player in the role of a different character made it possible to view the story of the base game from a slightly different angle. Also, the player goes through the story fragments Dracula was not directly involved in. The new minor story-driven campaign is based on the mechanics of the core game to a great degree. However, both the powers and Alucard's equipment are different from those Dracula had at his disposal. Thus the Revelations DLC brings a refreshment to the successful formula of the base game. As a result, the experience was significantly diversified and given a fresh feel.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Reverie
Action
March 30, 2011
The first DLC expansion for 2010's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The Reverie expansion is set between the ending and the epilogue of the core game. The player once again assumes the role of Gabriel Belmont, who decides to help the Queen of Vampires by the name of Laura - a former subordinate of Carmilla, whom Gabriel defeated in the base game. Both the characters set out for a dangerous journey, during which they encounter powerful, dark forces awakened after the defeat of Lords of Shadow. What was not the case in the core game, is an opportunity to play as a different character - the expansion puts the player in the shoes of Laura as well. Contrary to the base game featuring real-time cutscenes, the expansion offers an impressive equivalent in the form of an animated comic strip.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Resurrection
Action
June 8, 2011
The second story-based expansion for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - a third-person hack and slash game created by Konami and the Spanish team at Mercury Steam, the latter popular mainly for Clive Barker: Jericho. The Resurrection expansion brings a finale to both the stories of the core game and the first DLC - Reverie. The player participates in subsequent adventures of Gabriel Belmont who travels to the Underworld in order to strike the ultimate blow against the evil awakened after the defeat of the titular Lords of Shadow. The expansion does not bring any changes to the gameplay mechanics of the core game, focusing mainly on the plot and a spectacular ending of the entire story.
