Mechanics

In Touhou Luna Nights we observe the action from the side, from the side-scrolling perspective. The gameplay resembles titles such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night or Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, fcusing on traversing maps, jumping on platforms, exterminating opponents appearing on the screen, and solving simple puzzles.

The combat system used in the game is dynamic and characterized by a considerable degree of complexity - for example, by displaying dexterity and a sense of rhythm, we can regenerate lost health and MP. The heroine's skills are also very important. Sakuya can fight in close combat and throw daggers, but she also has a number of supernatural skills that enable her to control time (stopping or reversing it).

Importantly, the powers of the protagonist are used both during combat and when exploring the maps - for example, reaching some places may require stopping time at the right moment.

Game modes

Touhou Luna Nights can only be played solo. The devs did not prepare any multiplayer module - the mainstay of the game is a story campaign. The title also offers a special Boss Rush Mode, in which we face all the most powerful opponents.

Technical aspects

Touhou Luna Nights features nice, two-dimensional visuals in pixel art style. Both locations and characters have been made with great attention to detail. Animations and light effects also make a good impression. In terms of artistic style, the game draws inspiration from Asian pop culture - mainly manga style.
