An action-adventure game featuring the superheroes from Marvel comic books. The title was created by Traveller’s Tales Studio, experts at LEGO video games (e.g. LEGO The Lord of the Rings, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, LEGO Harry Potter). Players can become Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and other superheroes, who are asked by Nick Fury from the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization to save the world from villains and other dangers. The developers stayed true to the well-proven gameplay mechanics that combines elements of action, brawler, and adventure game. As always, the game is filled with unlockable extras, and features a cooperation mode in split screen.

Another installment in a bestselling action-adventure game series based on the license of the LEGO bricks. This title is a result of cooperation between the developers from Traveller’s Tales and the Marvel company. Once again, players visit the amazing world of comic superheroes. The story is based on the Avengers film (2012) and its sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Therefore, you can play as one of the numerous Marvel characters known from both the graphic novels and films, including Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Thor, Loki, and Hawkeye. In terms of gameplay, Lego Marvel’s Avengers is not much different from other games in the series, such as LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. Gameplay is presented in third-person perspective and it boils down to exploration, solving puzzles, gathering collectibles, and fighting with opponents.

An action adventure sequel to the 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man. Developed by Beenox Inc, a Canadian studio also responsible for such games featuring the Marvel’s superhero as Spider-Man 3: The Game, Spider-Man: Edge of Time and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. The story in the game loosely translates the adventures from the movie directed by Marc Webb into a video game setting. Players, who assume the role of the titular Spider-Man, have to find the assassin who murdered Peter Parker’s uncle - Ben. During the game, the player has to face numerous comic-book villains, including Electro, Kingpin, Black Cat, Green Goblin, and more. The sandbox gameplay mechanics give the players the freedom to explore the virtual version of Manhattan while completing assigned tasks.

A third-person action game starring Marvel's most popular super hero, released in about the same time as Mark Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man movie. The game was developed by Beenox, the studio that, with a slightly different line-up, created Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: The Edge of Time. The events presented in the game take place after the ending of the movie and tell a completely separate story. The plot focuses on biomedical experiments that create hybrids of humans and animals. Peter Parker, disguised as Spider-Man, releases Dr. Connors so he can create a vaccine for the virus that causes the mutation. The mechanics are a little bit similar to the last few Batman games and focus on fighting against groups of enemies and bosses. Unlike the previous Spider-Man games, this one departs from a comic book style and uses more realistic looking graphics.

The story of Deadpool: The Video Game focuses mostly on the antics of the sarcastic protagonist. The mercenary is trying to have his revenge on Mr. Sinister who caused Deadpool to fail in completing one of his contracts. In order to complete his objective, Deadpool joins forces with X-Men and travels with them to Genosha Island where the villain is building an army. The gameplay features dynamic hack’n’slash action focusing on delivering effective combos. The developers had ambitions to show the distinctive humor typical for the comic iteration. The character frequently talks directly to the player, commenting on his actions or giving instructions on how to deal with enemies.

We assume the role of the eponymous superhero, who has to undertake a myriad of various quests. However, the story does not impose any specific path on us, letting us decide the mission order on our own. Spider-Man 3: The Game focuses primarily on combat, where we can perform spectacular strikes with arms and legs as well as use the spider web. Hordes of minor enemies as well as ten famous villains known from the Marvel comic books will stand in our way. An interesting novelty is the fact that in the game we control not only the classic Spider-Man, but also his dark incarnation that came to life as a result of merging with a mysterious space symbiont.

Dan Slott, the writer of The Amazing Spider-Man comic series, is responsible for the storyline. The main theme of the game revolves around an artifact called the Plaque of Order and Chaos which holds the structure of the whole reality in check. However, the board gets shattered and its parts land in four different dimensions. Spider-Man's task is to find the fragments of the artifact.

The plot focuses on the evil Doctor Doom, who once again tries to execute a plan of taking control over the world, this time by forming an organization of super-villains. When a help request is sent from the headquarters of a government agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., the greatest heroes arrive to remedy the situation, among them Captain America, Spider-Man, Thor, Blade, Wolverine, the Thing, and Ghost Rider. Before each level, the player gathers a team capable of completing the objective. Then, they begin to exterminate the enemies, and ending the level with a boss fight. The game offers an extensive combat system and the player makes use of various famous abilities of their chosen superheros. As the player progresses, they can upgrade the superheros' costumes in order for them to acquire different, useful combat abilities.

A sequel to the action RPG by Activision, set in the Marvel’s superhero universe. The game was initially released in 2009 and then remastered with PC and the 8th-generation consoles in mind. The plot of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 starts when the S.H.I.E.L.D. comes across traces of dangerous criminal activity. Mysterious creatures equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and advanced technology stand up to a team of superheroes that consists of Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Daredevil, among others. The player’s task is to discover who is behind the entire scheme. Mechanics-wise, the production does not deviate significantly from the solutions of its predecessor. The most important novelty is the fusion system that allows two different superheroes to use one special power. The game’s plot can also develop non-linearly, depending on the choices made during dialogues.
