The Amazing Spider-Man Description
The Amazing Spider-Man is another game featuring the hero from the popular comic book series. The game was released by Activision and developed by Beenox studio that created, e.g. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time. However, a new developer team, that didn't work on the previous Spider-Man titles, is responsible for this game.
Plot
The game was released in about the same time as Mark Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie. However, the developers decided to present a completely separate story so even though the places and characters are similar the game can't be treated as a faithful adaptation. It should be also mentioned that the events in the game take place after the ending of the movie.
The Amazing Spider-Man takes place in New York. We play as Peter Parker, a teenager who, after being bitten by a radioactive spider, discovers his new special powers. Those powers allow players to climb tall buildings, jump from rooftops, swing on spider webs and perform various spectacular acrobatic stunts.
The story focuses on biomedical experiments, conducted by Oscorp company, that creates hybrids of humans and animals. Spider-Man releases Dr. Connors, The Lizard, so he can create a vaccine for the virus that causes mutation.
Mechanics
The game is presented from the third person perspective and is very dynamic. Players use their fists against numerous groups of enemies, eliminate them quietly by using spider webs or resort to epic fights with bosses. The gameplay is similar to the newest Batman games and it can be noticed that the developers of The Amazing Spider-Man were inspired by Rocksteady Studios games (Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City).
Technical aspects
The game departs from a comic book style and uses more realistic graphics.
