While playing Forever Skies, you will encounter many locations. To access some of them, you need to upgrade your ship. Below you will learn about the ship's upgrades and the possibilities they offer.
Maximum capacity
Your ship has a maximum capacity that depends on the balloon upgrade. The maximum load capacity limits the number of new ship elements, both structural and functional parts.
Aside from making your flying fortress bigger, there are also devices that weigh down the ship once they are installed. Each lifting device has an illustrated weight while crafted in the fabricator and when hovering over an item in the inventory.
Ship building tool
The Airship Builder tool allows you to modify the ship, i.e. increasing it and upgrading the balloon, which increases the maximum capacity. Thanks to it, you will increase the working area, put up external platforms and railings and build another floor. The tool wears out each time you place a mod, while recharging requires a tool charger.
Turbines and Engines
In addition to balloon upgrades, you can increase the maximum altitude and speed of the vehicle. Both parameters will be gradually developed thanks to turbines and engines. Both objects load the ship with their weight and increase the value once. This means that each installed turbine or engine, increases the speed or limit even more. This is important because the locations you encounter are at different heights. Some high-lying locations force you to craft the required number of turbines to get to the supplies they contain.
