On January 6, 2020, EA Sport announced FIFA 20's Team of the Year. The voting started on December 12 - any fan of the FIFA series can create and upload their line-up by choosing from 55 nominated players. Many will probably be surprised by the fact that this is the first TOTY without Cristiano Ronaldo. The Juventus star lost his place in the Team of the Year to Kylian Mbappé who plays as a striker in Paris Saint-Germain. Moreover, Neymar Jr. is absent, too. Among the nominated players, we can find such recognizable stars like Lionel Messi, N'Golo Kanté, or Kevin De Bruyne. Team of the Year in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team - 12th player
Cristiano Ronaldo may not have been in TOTY's starting line-up in FIFA 20, he did eventually appear in the Team of the Year thanks to the players' votes. CR7 finished in 12th place, receiving more votes than such soccer stars such as Robert Lewandowski or Hakim Ziyech.
TOTY - additional activities in the FUT 20 mode
The announcement of the Team of the Year in FIFA 20 is undoubtedly a big event. Besides the chance to purchase packages at a reduced price in the in-game store, players will be able to solve special puzzles in the Squad Builder Challenges mode and complete tasks to receive Flashback Iniesta. Interestingly, EA decided to introduce the additional twelfth player to TOTY. This player has joined the team on January 10 thanks to fan voting.
