Supercars are making their first appearance in F1 22. Our guide explains how to get vehicles, where to use them and how to pass the challenge - Pirelli Hot Laps.

F1 22 has added the option of driving supercars, an alternative to Formula 1 and Formula 2 cars. In the guide, you will learn how to get new vehicles, whether you can organize supercar races, and what are the differences between the variations of Pirelli Hot Laps challenges.

List of supercars and buying them with tokens

The playable supercars in F1 22 are:

1. Aston Martin DB11 V12
2. Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition
3. Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car
4. Ferrari F8 Tributo
5. Ferrari Roma
6. McLaren 720S
7. McLaren Artura
8. Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series
9. Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Safety Car
10. Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro

You can't drive all the available supercars right away - you have to unlock them with tokens first. You will receive your first token when you start a new game. Subsequent tokens are awarded for achieving mileage steps in the total distance covered by F1 cars, F2 cars and supercars. Each of these categories of machines has a separate counter.

The game informs about getting each new token (example in the picture). If you decide on driving machines from all 3 categories, you should accumulate enough tokens fairly quickly to unlock all supercars. This is done in the F1 Life section - we have described it in more detail on a separate page of the guide. F1 Life also allows you to change the color of the vehicle (not available for all supercars).

Pirelli Hot Laps - types of challenges, tips on how to earn gold medals

Pirelli Hot Laps are supercar challenges that take place on F1 tracks. You can check the available challenges in the main menu. They are also available in career modes. We recommend doing them, because they can reward you with experience or money.

Each of the challenges can be done on any of the 3 difficulty levels, even on the easiest.

There are 6 types of challenges:

Average Speed Zone - You must drive a section of the track and achieve the required average speed. You can't slow down too much even in slower corners. You should also make sure you are following the racing line perfectly. You have 3 attempts - you may be disqualified if you go outside the track. You only to get one good result. The game always picks the attempt with the best result.

Drift - You need to score as many drift points as possible within a certain period of time. Supercars drift with ease - you don't even need to use the handbrake that often. Try to drift for a longer period to get more points. Points from the current drift can be easily lost - if you collide with a railing, drive off the track or turn in the opposite direction. We recommend collecting points "in batches" so you won't lose them all when making a mistake.

Rival Duel - This is the only type of challenge in which you have to race against someone. You have to defeat 1 rival controlled by an AI who, in 3 attempts, starts behind you, next to you and in front of you (you must overtake it). Try to gain and maintain the lead at all times and focus on flawless driving and blocking any attacks from your competitor. The arrows informing about the other vehicle and the rear view option can help.

Checkpoint Challenge - You have to cover the longest possible distance, restoring the time by going through the checkpoints. This challenge rewards knowledge about the tracks. To get gold, you will have to complete about 2 laps (this varies depending on the track).

Autocross - You must pass between cones on your way to the finish line. Avoid hitting the cones and missing them, because this leads to penalty seconds and may make it difficult to get the gold medal. In particular, watch out for straight sections of the track, as they can force you to slalom. This may surprise you if you are driving very fast.

Time Attack - You must complete the required number of laps within the set time. It's a tough type of challenge for those tracks you don't know yet. You cannot afford any serious mistakes and, at the same time, you have to keep a good pace while taking the next turns.

Supercar races - are they available?

Despite the game featuring supercars, you can't race with them due to licensing restrictions. Racing with supercars is not available in singleplayer or multiplayer.

The only exception are the Rival Duel challenges. They are one-on-one races, with the other vehicle always controlled by the AI. You can't race against another player.

Exhibiting vehicles in the F1 Life section

You can put the unlocked supercars on display in the F1 Life menu so that they appear in your living space. You can see them when you visit the various F1 Life screens. Other players can see them too when they visit your F1 Life section.

There are 6 Bays and each of them may hold a different vehicle. After highlighting a vehicle from the list, you can also change its body color, but this option is available only for selected machines. There is no option to tune or install visual modifications on supercars.
