F1 22: Microtransactions (MTX) - are they in the game? F1 22 guide, tips
This F1 22 guide page explains how microtransactions work in the game and whether buying premium currency is helpful in advancing in your career.
Last update: 06 July 2022
Microtransactions in F1 22 can be a touchy subject for some players. Our guide explains what the Pitcoin premium currency is and whether microtransactions are intrusive, i.e. whether they make the game easier for players who choose to spend real money. We've also described the Podium Pass.
Premium currency - Pitcoins
Microtransactions are available in F1 22 and they are made with the Pitcoin currency. You can buy Pitcoins in the Store tab. The price list is as follows:
- 2,000 Pitcoins - 1.99 USD / 1.99 EUR
- 5,000 Pitcoins - 4.19 USD / 4.19 EUR
- 11,000 Pitcoins - 8.99 USD / 8.99 EUR
- 24,000 Pitcoins - 18.99 USD / 18.99 EUR
- 50,000 Pitcoins - 34.99 USD / 34.99 EUR
EA Play subscribers get a 10% discount on the Pitcoin packages. There is also a chance to earn Pitcoins as a reward through the VIP Podium Pass - we've described it further down the page.
Pitcoins don't make the game easier. They can only be spent on various cosmetic objects. Pitcoins can't buy better car parts or make driving easier - such gameplay elements are always available without having to spend real money.
Item Store
Pitcoins are mainly spent at two cosmetic item stores. The first is the Brand Shop, where you can buy new outfits.
The second option is the Item Shop, which has daily and weekly offers. In addition to clothing, you can buy new car paints, driver animations, sponsor logos, and other items here.
Podium Pass - free and VIP
When you first access the Player Pass tab, you will learn about the Podium Passes, which are linked to the Series, i.e. the game's seasons.
The pass has two available variants. The first is free, i.e. available to all players who receive the pass. It grants access to selected rewards and challenges.
The second type is the VIP pass, which needs to be purchased with Pitcoins. It allows you to unlock many more rewards and additional challenges. Additionally, it's possible to get Pitcoins to cover part of the cost of the pass.
For both types of passes, you need to earn XP (for example, by racing) and level up in order to gain access to the items further down the list. You have till the end of the current series to collect all the items. Afterwards, it will be replaced with another series containing more passes and new rewards.
