F1 22: Game modes - list F1 22 guide, tips

Our guide to F1 22 lists all the fun modes. You will learn mainly about the career, but also about time trials, challenges and multiplayer races, among others.

Last update: 07 July 2022

F1 22 offers a few game modes. Our guide contains a list of all game modes - Career variants, custom championships, quick races, time trials and online competitions. You will learn about the main assumptions of the available modes.

On this page, we focused on the summary of the most important features of each mode. A separate page called Career - tips and team management contains, among others, tips for starting setup, car upgrades and financial management in My Team.

Career - all major variants

You can play your F1 22 career in different ways - F1 22: Game modes - list - Basics - F1 22 Guide

You can play your F1 22 career in different ways. The most important choice is the number of players - you can play alone or with a second player online (split-screen is not available for career).

The second choice is the career type and in this case you have 2 options - F1 22: Game modes - list - Basics - F1 22 Guide

The second choice is the career type and in this case you have 2 options:

  1. Driver - This is the equivalent of the "classic" career known from the previous parts of the series. The character you create can sign a contract with one of the teams, thus replacing one of their drivers.
  2. My Team - Its main feature is that you join with your own team (as eleventh member), so the stake increases to 22 cars and the other teams remain with the same squad. In this mode, apart from racing, you have to manage your team to a greater extent (incl. spend money on engines and a co-driver or on expanding team facilities). This is, in our opinion, the best mode in the game. It is more extensive than the traditional career, but at the same time it does not add a lot of new duties and should not be treated as an F1 manager.

You can start your career with the standard settings or as a Pro Career with a much higher difficulty level and many facilitators turned off. Not recommended for people who want to learn the game and improve their driving skills.

Time trials, Pirelli challenges and single races

In the Solo tab, you will find other single player modes - F1 22: Game modes - list - Basics - F1 22 Guide

In the Solo tab, you will find other single player modes:

  1. Grand Prix - You can play a single Grand Prix or create your own championship by selecting races from the pool and placing them in the order of your choice (may be completely different from the official calendar). For each race, you can choose additional settings for the difficulty level or the occurrence and length of the session.
  2. Time Trial - You can compete to obtain better times on the tracks of your choice from the calendar and any vehicles you choose. By default, you can race against the ghosts of other players, although it is possible to disable them. You can also fight for a place in the rankings of the best players, but you have to be online and only "clean" laps count (i.e. without getting outside the track).
  3. Pirelli Hot Laps - We've covered them in more detail on the Supercars and challenges page. In each of the challenges, you can choose between 3 difficulty levels and earn a gold, silver or bronze medal. Challenges can also be triggered when advancing in the career (as optional activities rewarded with XP and cash).

Multiplayer modes

The available types of multiplayer modes can be found in the Multiplayer tab - F1 22: Game modes - list - Basics - F1 22 Guide

The available types of multiplayer modes can be found in the Multiplayer tab:

  1. Social Play (unranked) and Ranked Play - They are treated separately and the ranked races should be the more professional game mode.
  2. Weekly Event - These are different types of competitions that change at regular intervals. You can fight for the best results in the players rankings.
  3. Splitscreen - You can play this way with 2 people locally on one device.
  4. LAN Game - It is also a local game.
  5. Leagues - You can join a league or create your own and invite your friends/other players to join it. Within a given league, it is possible to organize races that will not be available to outsiders.
